I thought they stopped carrying people in the back of these trucks on public roads! I know the Brecon army base use buses,after a truck left the road a few years back ,and the mod insisted on seatbelts!
They have put new seats in called Tcvs has seat belts and a roll cage and claps and straps to the vehicle so the lads in the back are safer than the driver

Yeah, they use white fleet (mostly combi vans, and a few white coaches) wherever possible. I think they are leased.
Very occasionally, the MAN SVs do still get used though. The days of squeezing everyone in on back to back wooden benches are gone though. There is a special racking system, with racing style seats in, 5 our six to a side, I think. Each with a 5 point harness and ajacent rifle rack. It incorporates sime sort of roll bar system aswell.
I was behind one in the beacons a few weeks ago, full to the gills with knackered squadies
Reminds me of a time we where in the back of a bedford and the driver used the kerb to stop as the brakes didnt seem to work and he used the big kerb to stop the wagon, we all ended up in a big heap with SLRās up our noses and various other orifices

Christ how times have changed. When I was a schoolkid our local school scout troop had one of these;
Known affectionately as āThe Bruteā it was used for scout camps, school trips and general shifting stuff about; petrol engine of course, probably did about 40 flat out, we sat in the back on bench seats, no lap belts or anything just a stern warning to sit still and not mess about.
Todayās schoolkids wouldnāt even be allowed to look at the ā ā ā ā thing without the staff having to do half a dozen risk assessments.

Haha shake rattle and roll
The rules have changed from when we used to pile in and sit on our kit but they still carry troops in trucks. Seatbelts are compulsory though so fewer people can be squeezed in to each truck and they are therefore safer. Sounds like the fundamental principles still apply though ie get shot or blown up all you like but donāt dare damage yourself or military vehicle
