Moaning about squaddies again? Let me guess, one of them nailed your wife and didn’t call her back?

Yeah like those thick [zb] driving 20 hours a day for 3-4 days at a time, off road with no KFC services, and the small matter of IED’s and getting shot at… all at 18 yr old,
Tell you what my old son , given the choice between you, with your attitude, and them, I know who I would want to work with :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

No-one forcing them to go get themselves involved in other people’s wars. :unamused: :bulb:

think you will find that once you have taken the queens shilling you follow these things called ‘orders’ you don’t get much of a choice in it. but feel free to slate the people who fight and defend this country and allow pricks like you freedom of speech.

Try reading his post properly, joining the Army is a career choice no conscription nowadays, and as for defending this country and freedom of speech complete ■■■■■■■■, when did some afghan peasants ever pose a threat to you?

think you will find no afghan peasants are killed when they are just farming their land. and I think you will find that the forces do defend the country.
and yes while I agree people are not forced into it you join for many different reasons for example how many joined just before 9/11 and were sent to a foreign country to fight a war they had no say in?
so I did read the post properly as you mention, but my view is different to his I find how the UK and its citizens respond to the armed forces on the whole ■■■■■■■ disgusting just like the posts some have put on here.

Well said and yes I am another thick ex Squaddie who can’t drive (only 26 years on trucks) who happened to volunteer for the life of Reilly, apart from 10 months dodging bullets in NI. Just missed the first Gulf War didn’t fancy getting killed in my last six months. Crack on.

I joined just after the first one and was lucky and I mean lucky enough not to have fired in anger.

even as an air traffic operator we were always told solider first then your trade 2nd.

but I guess this is the one American thing we wont follow and will have soldiers being shunned in uniform rather than appreciated.

I had the choice to serve last 6 months in UK or do them in the Gulf, so took the soft option. I was only a “Postie” so did not have to get involved with being shot at and stuff like that, and we were covert in NI although had to drive to and through some very dodgy areas.

Do you appreciate an Eddie Stobart driver when you seem him in his uniform? Why should we lionise someone for the job they chose to do?

Do they still have the policy of when one truck breaks down, all the others stop behind it a d pretend to loom useful?
They used to have a habit of doing this on the A34.

I moved over to a mobile radar so yes did find out what they were and full of stuff too :open_mouth: I even got to wear Norwegians and have some pretty green, brown and black trousers.

I actually enjoyed that more than being in an underground bunker, but yeah we do get looked after far better than most.

maybe I was brought up different to you but its called respect, same for other who put their life’s at risk for the sake of others, yeah just like all the eddie stobart drivers on here do daily.

No point in discussing this further as your obviously one of the tree hugging lets all love each other we don’t need to fight brigade. As said one day you will need one of these people in uniform and with a bit of luck they will just say not my problem.

Seriously? what a ridiculous post. :unamused:

same for yours about eddie stobart :unamused:

There is a slight difference between a Eddie Stobart driver and a Squaddie. One is a hero in uniform facing mortal danger every day the other just travels to foreign countries meets interesting people and kills them and tries not to get himself killed in the process. All of our forces personnel deserve a bit of respect for volunteering to protect Queen and country, so either give them a bit of praise or don’t comment. If anybody thinks we don’t need to fight terrorism they are in cloud cuckoo land.

Here ya go Del, food for thought…

This is as naive and idealistic as the tree huggers though. There might be a percentage that genuinely believe but a load more will be there because of the money and no better job opportunities elsewhere and there will be a load as well that want to play Rambo/Call of duty for real.

Thing is though the money for a recruit/private is rubbish. Even a captain is making around £24k a year basic, hardly a rich mans world.

I still don’t get this “forces drivers are crap” stuff from, these days they are taught by civilian instructors the same as everyone else .

■■■■ sake. You pricks can have an argument about army wagons and still bring Stobart into it. Get a ■■■■■■■ grip.
