Make sure you have your driving licence with you for a temporary pass

I once had to go into Leconfield, near Beverly, East Yorkshire. It took over an hour to get in, then I had to be escorted and supervised while I was on site. I wouldn’t expect things to move quickly if I were you.

Thats basically it. Take ID. Depends in how long the ■■■■■■ takes to turn up. Spent 25 years wandering in and out of army/navy/RAF depots, very rarely did they bother with an ■■■■■■

Been a while since I’ve been to a military site, in fact it was a non driving job. Take your ID, no ID no entry. Expect to have your vehicle searched possibly in & out. The attitude test will need to be passed if you want a smooth visit. If you have an ■■■■■■ follow their instructions.

As an aside on 1 occasion I was working with 3 other colleagues (2 x 2 man groups) we had armed escorts working close to a taxi way. We were working away & close to finishing when we were all instructed to stop working & sit in our vehicles. One of my colleagues got a bit lippy & ended up being arrested at gun point. Our day was extended by a good few hours because of that. For those interested it was a British base with a substantial US presence & hosted a regular airshow.

Its Dozy so no doubt he will do something wrong. Expect him to to be arrested for something and locked in the guardhouse for a day or two with nothing to eat but a ginsters pie and a can of lilt.

Thankyou all , sounds like what I was told , yes always carry lisense , and will be on best behaviour

^^^ and then be in front of the TC because he left it on other work for 48 hours!

Don’t forget about the manky old orange

first time i went to the naval base at portsmouth i was told i had to get a pass, so went and got one all a bit of a faff. Then once i had been there once it was quicker for the next 5-6 times then all of a sudden they decided i couldnt have a pass as the pass lasted for the entire day which caused a little muttering at the gate byt eventualy ket me through then it was just straight in every time after that.

once through the gate you had to wait for an ■■■■■■ car that would take you to the building you needed,

only other place i did once was supposed to be part of portendown or atleast connected to it. park up get a pass go back to the waiting area. pc plod would come search the vehicle then an ■■■■■■ would come in the cab with you and direct you.

Dozy careful you don’t get shipped out to Ukraine :open_mouth:

For a start, he would be better off heading to Bulford, rather than Burford :bulb:

The goodly people of Burford, can dislike juggernaughts thundering through their quaint little town as much as they like.
Shame the 7.5t weight limit was revoked on the 5th of Feb but funnily enough, the weight limit signs are still up

I used to collect/deliver at Menwith Hill nearly every week. Never had a problem, never had an ■■■■■■. Dog used to search the load and cab while I was booking in. Never had any issues.

Some bases you don’t get an ■■■■■■, ones in Oxfordshire come to mind, but you’ll always be asked for ID.

At one transport company I worked at they sent an eastern european to the Defence Academy who was refused entry!!!

When I was based at RAF Benson we never escorted anyone, just gave them directions at the gatehouse and let them crack on.

Our Polish driver forgot his DL when we sent him to Menwith Hill, he got turned away…we didn’t send him again

I had an ■■■■■■ everytime I had to go into RAF Benson, Brize Norton, never had an ■■■■■■ at EOD Didcot, Dalton Barracks or any other Army base

If you want a faster ■■■■■■ just tell them your name is Abu Hamza.
