I asume you mean the place at stourton, it used to be run by wincanton when it opened until they lost the contract, and rumour has it that they will be going back in there within the next 12 - 18 months
Arla Food …
Been into many of their depots delivering & collecting rental trucks & they all have one thing in common.
They don’t seem to employ people who can drive.
Every depot I’ve collected from has been the same, lots of damage.
Don’t know about working there, but the gits don’t allow you to stay in the cab on the bay… Most annoying at 2 am when the food machines are empty, you’ve got a headache, and a good 2 hr wait in a plastic chair in the canteen…
I even offered to put the TB on, remove the airlines, and hand the keys in… but no…
Luv
Chrisie…
right thats another one crossed off my list then

Why? While you got four perfectly reasonble replies, no-one could or claim to answer your three original questions. Its one thing delivering somewhere, potentially different working there, just a thought?

i know what you are saying but ive heard bad things off other people as well who have done agency work there i just thought i would ask the question on here for a more wider scope of things and with everything ive heard and the messages on here i havent heard one good thing about the company.

If thats the case then you were right to give them a miss
I have delivered there a few times in the last month, from what I have seen they seem like a good bunch of lads I usualy sit in the cab when on the bay, never get any hassle…If they pay the same as the rest of the group the basic is guarenteed at £400 but most do overtime and adverage about £500, the work is pretty easy, the hours are variable with shifts covering 24 hrs, so its a bit pot luck and they expect you to be flexable.
Hope this helps.
I use to load out of there just over a year ago.
I could stay in cab on the bay but if I wanted they let me drop the trailer and loaded it for me.
Often parked there if loading and weekended there more than once, left waggon in there and cycled into leeds down the canal.
Very nice shower facilities and full access to the canteen.
It would be sad if it has changed, it was one of the few places left where you felt the place wanted to work with you and make you welcome.
Dont know what its like to work for any of these mega big hauliers, I thought they were all exactly the same, I bet they give you a blue polo shirt and some blue trousers!

You’re referring to their old place on Kirkstall Rd, especially since you mention the canal which runs at the back of the place. They’ve since built and opened a brand new distribution centre on J44 of the M1 though.
I’ve refrained from replying to this thread, because a friend of mine works there.Or at least he did until today…
He was on the collection side, doing 4 on,4 off,for a basic of £17k per year, with overtime a plenty. Now that the wonderful 48 hour week has come in,he is now on basic hours, and little chance of any extra earning potential.
So,he made a few calls, and has been for an interview with Mr Stobart, based in Warrington on the international division. He’s never run over the pond before, but has worked for Stobbies on UK work in the past.He will, however, have the benefit of having the truck based in Wakefield, instead of Warrington.
The upshot of it is,he starts on Monday, and told Arla to put it where the sun don’t shine, especially as he wasn’t paid this week!!!
Now before anyone has a go at where he’s bound for, listen up to the package he’s told me he’s on…
£150 per day.
An extra £300 if your weekended.
Running money
Bonuses based on where you enter/exit the UK from, depending on which ferry company/route you use.
Bonuses on where you fuel up.(UK or Europe.)
Ken.

Strange, those figures wildly disagree with what another well known Tnet member is getting for doing exactly the same job. Someone’s telling porkies.

i know they do base a couple of the euro trucks at wakefield and they seem to be home every weekend.
as for the money i was talking to a stobbies driver last sat night and he told me none of the uk drivers want to do the euro cos of the money.
i was told they get paid £72.00 per day and that is 10hrs as stobbies are on £7.20 pr hr all hrs
night out is £20.00.
A friend of mine has just left Stobarts to join Arla (Ashby) as the money is better. Now their’s irony…

Im afraid they would be still waiting for the load, if that was me. My truck cab is my home, and I will sit in it whenever. Although Rowallen Creamery in Kilmarnock used to thro you off site if the security man caught you with your eyes closed
Seems Stobarts have a flexible pay scheme, there is a big difference between £80 and £150 per day
ARLA are going to busy on collections as they have done Robert Wisemans out of the Morrison milk contract in conjunction with Bibbys.

2, what shifts avalible
3, do you get your own lorry
Paid bedween £8.50 and £10.- which shift you have
Overtime till 15hour/Day
All Shifts awayable, but best is 4on/4off 12hour/day and then overtime till 15 hour. otherwise get you in trouble with workingtime,as you have to unload the Lorry!!!
Don’t believe other stories.
Is direct on the M1
Usually no own Lorry
Stobbies DEFINATELY won’t pay the money mentioned above - there just isn’t any profit to be had!
If they were paying that much, I’d sell my motors and go back and work for them again!
