[But if it is aimed at me I guess it’s because lots of drivers apparently have nothing to go home for & resent the fact I have , a mrs Who 99 % of the time will have cooked me a nice tea, layed my clothes out in bed & when I’ve come down fro shower will have poured me a can of cider

Your, what I tell my mate to do, get his class one and see Europe, he is single no kids at home etc … I think, being on the road to see Europe must be a wonderful thing, he’s a loner so would be good for him, not saying your a loner, but enjoying your own company is a plus… with it being 2020 … FaceTime and internet on the go , not like it was in the 70’s/80’s…
Oh I’m definitely a loner. And yup had a wonderful career so far, loved it all. And as you say these days online you can keep up with everything anyway. Yes Dozy thinks the likes of me weird but fact is I probably interact with more people in an average week than he does a year
Takes me back to when another driver got called in to the office for his “attitude “ , well silly me never hid well enough and got pulled in as a witness to what was to be said. Well the said driver said he liked to work alone and prefers his own company … well our old school boss (ex full term warrant officer) blasted out I don’t care if you’re lone wolfMcCabe(mind him?). Or the ■■■ Lone Ranger you will help out within reason at job sites. By then the tears were running down my face , I get told to find something to do for another half hr before home time ,or words to that effect by this red faced wee guy, before he’s off again at the “attitude driver”. Good boss though take your verbal bashing and 10 mins later it’s the coffee s on Jimmy

I have two kids, a wife, house to pay for etc… if I was single now and no commitments I would love to travel Europe, or even Australia now, I’m 45 and settled, but when I retire in 5 years I might go trucking part time. And see the whole of Australia by road. And eventually come home to the UK.
