Are you cpc (35 hours) qualified yet?

Muckaway:
Apparently our Saturday courses cost about £120 pp and if we leave within 12 months of doing them, it’s deducted from final wages. Can you get cheaper courses at weekends than this? If so I’m considering funding my own incase I do leave and find myself with only a few quid in my last payslip.
Note I’m not fussed regarding quality, something where I don’t have to do/listen to other peoples’ introductions and where I can doze at the back and not join in group discussions etc (I have a cb for that).
For £10 in the instructors’ back pocket I’ll happily have my attendance noted, paperwork filled in and bid them a good day.

Are you likely to leave though and if you pay for the course yourself, will your employer reimburse you?

There’s a chance of a tipper job for the same money Lusk but easier work and even closer to home that I’ve got first refusal on depending on their circumstances. I suppose it’ll be down to guess work. I doubt I’d get reimbursed.

^^^^
The only reason I asked was because there was this one bloke I knew who had worked for a company for years and years and if truth be told, he is going to be there for a while to come. He went out and did his class one and paid for that himself all because he did not want to sign a claw back agreement. To me, he has just spunked £800 of his own money (or however much) up the wall!!

On the courses I’ve done, those who are totally against DCPC are usually the most vocal in the classroom, always bore the group with their “experiences,” interrupt the trainer, make all the noise in group work and not forgetting at the start will bang on for ages at the introductions*
I think the best thing to do is to visibly show disinterest in the introductions (I don’t care if you work for Stobarts), never recount experiences, play about with your phone during group work (someone else will take it all seriously and do the work) and at the end you will have gained just as much in the same time as Mr Thishappenedtome.
*I hate these with a passion. This is time wasting filler, nothing about training. You/your employer are paying for this crap.

Place near me offering course on saturday 75quid.

i am til 2021 full cpc which includes my pcv and hgv

still got one to do, firm are paying, and its in house, so just an easy shift.

One to do also, 4 I’ve done are the longest most boring 8 hr days off my life, ever, FACT

On the courses that i have done without Mr.Thishappenedtome the trainer would have been screwed .None of them had enough content to fill 7 hours. How many on here could talk in an interesting and engaging manner about tachos for 3.5 hours? :arrow_right:

But do you enjoy their war stories? IME whatever the trainer mentions said driver has had it happen at least once.
