The word ‘prick’ springs to mind, but it just doesn’t do you justice.
The worst thing that you can do on any forum is turn it personal, it is boring for everyone else, so I would respectfully ask that you keep this topic on track and thus allow others to become engaged in the actual topic content.
Talking of keeping the topic on track…Italy is a bit bolloxed and then some and we will all see the world change tomorrow, whether we like it or not…The ROI has just closed all it`s pubs and clubs and that is their way of life!!

Hi, apologies maybe this has been discussed previously, does anyone know what is the official guidance in case when a driver comes up with covid 19 symptoms and tells employer they would be self isolating themselves. Is there any official guidance on deep cleaning the cab which was used by this person over last few days, please? Thank you

Guilty as charged. Apologies.
That doesn’t mean you’re not talking bollox (ie, threatening to leave the UK, but not actually getting round to doing it while still making use of the UK’s infrastructure).

It would appear that my lot just put some (not all) of my stuff in a bin bag, cable tied it shut, put it in the under arse locker and sent it out again.
Mind you I had no symptoms and only self isolated as a precaution…

As it happens, tomorrow is day 1 of my 4 on/4 off shift pattern. I’ve just been informed that my 4 on/4 off partner (we share the same cab) called in yesterday with Corona symptoms.
I’ve been allocated a different truck (fair enough), but what they’re going to do with my usual truck I don’t know. Deep cleaning hopefully, but who knows?
I’m not sure if there’s ‘official guidance’ on such matters. Hopefully common sense prevails and they nuke it with Dettol.

Been thinking about this these last couple of days actually, it would be a bit of a ball ache if you took bad down the road.
For instance I was down near Lizard Point last week, 480 miles away from home.
I have been ill down the road before, but nothing longer than the one day, sickness, the ■■■■ s, (and the odd mega hangover after weekending ) and if this is as depilating and energy draining as they reckon, it would maybe not be your first reaction to carry on driving.
It would be a complete pain in the arse moping in your cab trying to sweat it out for anything up to 3 days or whatever …can’t even park near a decent pub as they are all due to close up soon.
No chance of our lot sending anybody down to rescue the load either (under no illusions that they would give a ■■■■ about the driver) I mean, who would want to come out to meet me with an infectious condition.

"It is not certain how long the virus that causes COVID-19 survives on surfaces, but it seems to behave like other coronaviruses. Studies suggest that coronaviruses (including preliminary information on the COVID-19 virus) may persist on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days. This may vary under different conditions (e.g. type of surface, temperature or humidity of the environment).
If you think a surface may be infected, clean it with simple disinfectant to kill the virus and protect yourself and others. Clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or nose." who.int/news-room/q-a-detai … onaviruses
Probably find good advice through the NHS site too.
Sites like this one can be a good source of info, but always double check.
Thanks for your replies! Very kind! I have checked nhs and gov.uk but haven’t came across anything related to the haulage sector, obviously need to use a common sense and probably put a temporary measure to keep drivers away from office spaces just based on physical nightmare of disinfecting every possible item a person could come in touch with. Hope people won’t be taking it badly. Stay safe, everyone!
One thing I will say is peoples reactions are ridiculous. When I finished work it was like I was wearing a pathogenic bomb vest given some of the looks I got. Which I’ve raised with HR because obviously confidentiality didnt last long at all. It’s that bad that “in real life” I’ve told nobody why I’ve been off work.
I had an idea that might be the case, anyone who’s seen the last 10 minutes of that old (and quite worth watching) film Quatermass And The Pit would have an inkling of what things would be like if and when, as they are now, turned serious.
As for your note about confidentiality, that is one of my reasons for being so anti driver facing cameras, no matter what they all say when trying to sell these things we all know that every suit in the place, the admin and some of the drivers will have seen any juicy footage going, data protected or not, its not beyond the bounds that some poor sods final moments could be captured by a camera and that footage end up being watched by the usual ghouls and as these things do end up getting released outside, eventually said poor sod’s widow(er) or other loved ones finds out, nothing is safe because people cannot be trusted.
My other half is what they refer to as "at risk:, because of very bad underlying health conditions. She started feeling worse (when I was away at work), and told over the phone without any consultation, to "self isolate for two weeks (I.e. ■■■■ off and stop bothering us). I have been happily traveled across the country, and visited many factories, RdC’s, sevices, etc, without so much as a notice to wash my hands. Today my other half started to have chest pains, so we called 999. An ambulance came, 3 para medics came in the house, assest her, and took her to the hospital. There, she (and me, accompanying), were ushered into a ‘quarantine room’, where after half a hour, a nurse did an ecg, and a doctor checked her chest, and prescribed a course of anti biotics…
Then, we were let go, to mingle with the populace again.
As far as I’m concerned, this virus is either a flash in the pan, or an orchestrated attempt by somebody. Either way, I couldn’t give a toss. If i die, i die. If i dont, i have to try and pay next weeks rent and council tax. Life goes on.

Haven’t clicked the link but the link is identical to on that came up on my Facebook page only that one is offering me 85 euro a day from the Irish government, just thinking that an announcement as big as this wouldn’t be made via a link on my Facebook page.

Let’s get this right £75 per ‘week’ UC, turns into £100 per ‘day’ to sit in the garden.Yeah right.Which immediately id’s you as a contagion ‘risk’ to be carted off to a ‘quarantine’ home where they’ll ‘palliate’ you and nick the house.I’ll stay with the £75 per week thanks.
