I’ve recently got a man. When I do get flashed in I used give a quick left then right indicator.
But now got a man when I try it’s impossible can’t turn signal off and at times in indicating all over the shop.
Or is it just me
Steady Gazsa, taking a pride in your work is almost a revolutionary act these days , won’t be long before you’ll be accused of some form of 'ism or being an 'ist in the current race to deskill the industry/country.
Yep i still give the double sidelight flash answer (preceded by an indication relevant to whether overtaking or being flashed out to overtake), my lorry thankfully doesn’t have the sidelights on permanently as many do, my two flash answers are one for about 1 second followed by one for 2 or 3 seconds, bit like a signature , the negative version in the dark quicker for obvious reasons and may be altered if likelihood of dipping the headlights might be misconstrued
Never been that keen on the indicator waggle for further obvious reasons.

1st man ever had and seems well built and solid. Everything is heavy compared to daf used have…
And yes under settings thanks.
Lot easier won’t be confusing everyone now
With Convenience Flash, some vehicles with just a dab on the indicator flashes three times, push the indicator it’s full distance then back again immediately it will then flash once.

Sorted , also if yours is new enough in the settings you can switch that bloody eco thingy off which causes the poxy motor to cut power hundreds opf yards before a descent when in cruise, top line in settings if my memory serves, at least MAN leave you the option of such things still.
New model next year i’m told, should be interesting.
I try and hit the hazards to thank people for letting me in or out, but mostly I try not to.
People behave stupidly enough around my crane as it is without encouragement.
I flash unless they clearly don’t need it, ie if the speed restriction is down to 40, I’m sat in lane 1 at 40, and another truck comes flying past in lane 2 on his limiter. At 16mph speed difference you don’t flashing in. Or if I’m going up saddelworth moor at 44 ton at 25 mph and someone comes past light or empty at 50 mph plus they don’t need a flash either.
But apart from that I always flash in and always say thank you.
If the overtake is very slow I always back off a couple of mph on the cruise control to get him past. It’s safer to not have another truck right next to you for 6 miles and to get the other vehicle safely in front instead and it costs you split seconds to back off and then resume speed.
Since I’ve been in the v8 I’ve never had so many flashes

Do any of you flash oncoming traffic let them know there’s a copper/speed camera ahead?
Me personally I don’t far as im.concerned if your speeding and mobile camera gets you tough luck
When I’m cracking on in the V8, I do get flashed in by most, apart from the usual suspects with the death grip and fixed stare, and I always say thanks with indicators but not till I’m back in my lane to try and avoid confusing any cars.
When I’m on a go slow, I flash almost everyone in and most say thanks but it is hard not to call them some VERY salty names when they don’t acknowledge.
Definitely more and more cabbages driving wagons without a clue though.
One thing that does my head in is those fishing for a flash (flishers?), usually vans, that slow down on your front bumper and sit there with the indicator on.
Flashing in is a system that has worked for generations.
Once over 99.999% of trucks flashed you in, nowadays we get the ones who can’t be arsed, so consequently those who are crap drivers tend to pull in too soon, where as in the old days if you had an unsure driver he would wait for the inevitable flash.
So all you tossers who are ‘too cool to flas in’ are the cause of me wanting to inflict gbh on those c…s who shave my grille.
I personall always wait for a flash, not that I NEED it, but more as a courtesy to ensure I leave enough room, so even if I don’t get a one, I know I have not ■■■■■■ of the truck I have overtook.
I’m just too ■■■■ good to be true in fact.

Fizzfish, drivers like yourself always worry me. It’s nice to be courteous and all that but you need to be very careful flashing drivers out (or even worse, waving them out) because as I am sure you know if they go and have an accident then you are involved. Just be wary.
Jake mate, seriously.
Are you fully aware of how condescending you come across on here sometimes
Have a day off man ffs.I could say how you come across but I won’t. Can I ask if you understand why I said what I said and if you realise that other drivers have ended up in serious bother with being what they regard as being courteous.
The point of my post was trying to pass over some helpful info that may just help someone.
There are some that listen and take advice then there are others who think they know it all already.
Jake mate, when you have an ego as big as mine, you don’t give a flying one what people think of how you come across, or what is said about you, trust me.
Of course I understood what you said, there is always a negative side of a positive action, I too flash in and out, and am a courteous driver in general, but I am fully aware flashing can be misconstrued, as I am sure also is the guy you patronised, so I act with caution…it what makes us ‘Professionals’ and separates ‘us’ from ‘them’
However, if I ever need any ‘Helpful info’ from you to improve my driving, I’ll get back to you.

And it’s still the drivers responsibility to check it’s safe to do whatever move they’re intending regardless of being flashed or not.
If some one flashes me out I don’t just blindly go, I’ll still check it’s safe to do so. If I have an accident I’m not one to turn round and say it must be their fault for flashing - it’s solely mine for not proceeding with caution. Responsibilities don’t move just because of a flash!

Having spent so many of my driving hours doing supermarket work this past decade, - I have obviously done a lot of “flashing in” over that time.
Of late though, I tend to flash less than I used to these days…
…This is because when I get overtaken, there is often a second artic right up the first one’s arse - and if I were to flash the front one in, the flash might be “mis-interpreted” by the trailing one, and I might get a sleepy driver steer left straight into the side of me with the arse end of their trailer…
So for me - “flashing in less” which I am definitely doing these days - is about “safety” then.

I’ll always say thanks, unless you drive like a helmet. Can’t remember the last time I was overtaken but I’ll always flash in, always give a wave if someone moves over to let me out too.I’ve made it from Dover to Glasgow without being flashed in once, all the jealous beanos raging because a V8 passes them

I’m definitely a flasher. I’m always flashing lorries to change lanes, pull out, pull back in again. I regard myself as a courteous driver, frequently flashing all manner of vehicles in and out of side roads, also waving pedestrians across too. There’s nothing worse than being courteous and flashing someone out and then not even being acknowledged. You end up cursing and wishing you hadn’t let them out but by then it’s too late. If it wasn’t for us truckers letting other vehicles in and out the whole road network would grind to a halt!Fizzfish, drivers like yourself always worry me. That’s rubbish. Flashing your lights is simply the visual equivalent of sounding your horn and used simply to alert others to your presence.
There was an article in the local rag a while ago where someone had tried to blame the other driver for flashing their lights before pulling out in front of them. It didn’t wash, if you’re pulling a manoeuvre, it’s up to you to make sure it’s safe.

Nope. If someone wants to speed above the threshold where you’d get done then let em get caught not my problem, shouldn’t be speeding.

once again we see jts just spouting more stating the obvious/condescending superior waffle.
indicators are flashing lights.just because you see one implying the car coming is turning left is meaningless when you pull out and he t- bones you.
same for headlights.they are only seen as visual awareness.
surely a professional driver would know that?

Nice to see there’s still a lot of empathy and camaraderie around us drivers eh?
