Are truck drivers working class or middle class?

Do you consider yourself to be working class or middle class?

But there again I think anybody that works is working class, or, to put it another way I don’t believe in the class structure so why encourage it?

Not sure it’s that simple - the line is a bit blured these days.

If I was forced to choose…

working.

Out of interest - what do people think the definition of ‘working’ and ‘middle’ class is??

would hate to think of{ CLASS} each and everyone is as important as everyone else to at least someone.hows that?

Don’t kid yourselves, there will always be a class system in Britain whether you accept it or not

When i worked in I.T i would get treated so differently in shops, restaurants etc. just because i wore a suit because most poeple assume you are in a different class just because you wear a suit

But i’ve always been working class because as knight says, i work

Working class or middle class? One works for their money, the other is usually born with it.

Depends what I am driving, if it’s the space cab I am upper class as I look down on most others, if it’s the CF I am middle class as I look up to the space cab drivers but down to the rest. But when I am in the Caddy I am working class as I look up to most others.
Sorry folks I think I may have “plagirised” this from a “Two Ronnies” sketch

I wear a suit during the week and drive on Saturdays only.
Does that make me middle class during the week and working class at the weekends■■?

I’m confused!!!

think u got a point as most some traction units cost more than a ferarri

there isn’t class structure really it’s either your filthy rich or poor (well just making some money), but there again i reckon the goverment will make things worst for everyone.

A bit off topic but if you drive or operate a vehicle this is where you might fit starting in order of skill and perhaps class.

Minicab driver
Van driver
Bus/Coach driver
HGV driver

I would consider all those professions above to be working class. Now i believe going into the next list is where the lines get blurred between working and middle class

Train driver
Airliner pilot
Captain of a cross channel ferry or cruise liner.

reading the sun the other day said

“the average working class persons annual wage is 23,000 compared to 33,000 for the middleclass and 52,000 for the upper class”

aggree with it or not other people will see hard working people earning 35,000 through graft as middle class. i think its more about how we view ourselves and treat others not what statistics etc say

Have to agree with this one.
Prime example was at the CV show, a few salesmen were more interested in speaking to the suited and booted people. My mate who runs vans on European was dressed in " jeans Tshirt boots" is looking to buy some vans, he had to chase the salesmen, but they were more interested in chasing the suits!

class is an attitude of the mind
as well as upbringing
earning pots of money dosnt make you middle class
eg Wayne Rooney is working class though thru education his kids may end up middle class

Simple to work out which class you are:
If you have your name on your work clothes, your working class.
If your name is on your office door, your middle class.
If your name is on the building you work in, your upper class!

On a personal note, I would never want to be middle class cos most of them are just upper class wannabees.

I live in a distinctly upper middle class village yet I am working class. I remember when wifey bought a new car and the salesman asked for our address and seemed to go into full on fawn mode when we told him. He also commented ’ Very affluent’. To be honest, I let the few buggers that live here know I am working class and I get treated a lot better in my opinion than if I had tried to be the same as them.

never really thought about it, we all do a crap in the morning no matter who you are

I hope you’re not churning up the grass in that big smelly lorry of yours!

I thought we were just scum? I didn’t know we could aspire to the dizzy heights of working class!

I earn a ■■■■ sight more money now as a ‘working class’ lorry driver than I ever did as a ‘middle class’ manager - and I’m happier.
