Apropos of Nothing, but

Where do all the old supermarket Axors go?

Can’t see a huge demand on the second hand market for a low roof, narrow body 4x2 tractor unit.

Are they all exported? If so, where do they go?

A coincidence that you posted this; I saw a pair of Axor horseboxes on the M27 on Monday and I said to the Mrs “ex trolleys” as she thought the lorries were a bit modern for donkeyboxes.
I know a bloke who has an L reg Scania 3 series 4w tipper that used to be a Waitrose unit; It worked out cheaper to buy and have a tipper body built than a new one, was well maintained and it’s 320 pulls great up the Cotswold hills at 18t mgw.

*some may end back up on this land but being driven on some foregn plate’s going slightly faster than tesco/argos/asda when they ran them…

I bet one or two will be on the funfairs soon enough.

some even end up being double recycled.

Wouldn’t it be Apropos “Where do all the old supermarket Axors go?”

Not really. I mean it in the context of “without any apparent reason or purpose”

I do realise that most topics on this forum could easily come under this title! :grimacing:

last year we had a yard full of 05 and 06 plate actros appeared 1 weekend from a depot that had closed…about 30 of them…they were collected 3 at a time and were going down south to the docks and right into boxes for a 1 way trip to africa so the drivers said.

That’s ‘cos Co-ops’ ones are only fit for scrap
Working for a firm that until recently was 95% Foden, it always made me smile when the fairs had newer wagons than us.
Does make you wonder what they’ll buy in a few years; Hinos, Axors and MANs I reckon.

Isn’t it a problem having the steering wheel on the correct side for Johnny Foreigner?

Malta and Cyprus seem popular for knackred exports as well

They all one by one slowly pootle down to a port at 40mph, toot their pathetic little horn, get on a boat and then eventually truck drivers in Africa will probably be moaning about them.

It’s surprising how young stuff is that’s exported these days really and what decent kit they have from new sometimes in African countries.

Malta was always a haven for clapped out British wagons. I guess even Leyland Marathons have to die some day.

Big market in Afganistan for Mercs at the moment.

Takes a day or less to convert them back to left hookers, all the continental trucks are built as left hookers and then modified for the UK and Irish markets.

called “snickers” now dude

Mad for Mercs in Africa. Nigeria I think will bite your hand off for them. Sold a couple of 56 plate 4x2 tga’s before Christmas for 5 grand a piece and was surprised when the MAN chappy said he was bouncing them straight off to Africa.

They are driven by fannies for fannies, so have not really been used.

Here’s where they are, and where they’re going.
