Anyone worked forThe Best Connection?

I have an appointment to go and register with them next week. They seem to offer decent money and say they have plenty of work more local to me than the 20mile each way commute I have been getting from the current agency for the last 6 months. I know they’ll tell you anything to get you on their books so I’ll see how it goes, just interested to hear some others experiences of working for them.

Also, what does their tachgraph assessment entail? Is it basic stuff or should I do some revision just to be on the safe side?

Cheers

I have been using them for a lot of work with DHL sites - but you do get a few cancellations at the last minute not always the agencies fault.
basic questionnaire and with tacho assessment nothing to worry about.

I’ve worked for them in the past, my local office never seem able to supply regular work, always a day here, couple days there. I don’t know if their rates are set nationally or locally, but until recently they were nothing special, and have only recently been in line with other local agencies.

I’ve used them, not had much work and they seem to be losing contracts around here. Be careful they don’t find out where you’re working if your registered with them and working for another Agency. I was at one place for another Agency and like a tool I let slip the week before to the Best Connection where’d I’d be the next week. Cheeky ■■■■ phoned this place and said, "you’ve got one of my Drivers in there … " When I found out I phoned him and told him to ■■■■ off and said he was bang out of order. One of ‘his’ Drivers, prick.

BTW, they spam the Jobcentre with BS and lies, they are one of the worse for spam BS.
Oh yes, some questions on what Roads you’d take to get to ■■ Take a smart phone with Google Maps on it if your unsure

I signed up with them about 18 months ago.

Didn’t get a single shift out of them!

You have a 7 hr induction (paid) where you tell them you want to work mon-fri and start round the 4 a.m mark, they ring you up on fri night at 11.30 p.m asking you to start at 6 am on a saturday :unamused: :unamused: :smiling_imp: ,when you query this they tell you the work has dropped off( big change from loads of work on a thurs-)y :unamused: :unamused: ,they then continue to ring you offering you work but only night shift including w/ends( even though you told them you want mon-fri :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: .you give it up as a bad job.
They seem to have work, but if you need to work certain days etc because of kids, schools, dog to walk then you might not get it.

Im employed by them on dhl tankers no issues at all good pay and get looked after in terms of wages paid on time with right amount no complaints from me

I did 6 months with them in 2006 driving fork truck in Swindon B & Q RDC.
They were ok.

I worked for Best Connection a few years ago.

I found them to be honest and decent.

I only left because I was “temp-to-perm” and after 13
weeks I got taken on full time by the client.

I’ve also found Driver Hire to be pretty OK.

It’s like any of these nationwide agencies. Some branches are better than others. Reasons can vary from whether there is not much work in the area they are set up in, to lazy lying consultants.

I signed up with them after passing my Class 2 two and a half years ago, and I’m still waiting for a call.

I have this theory that I didn’t get a call because I told them I won’t go under £10ph unless it’s on my doorstep, which of course nothing is, me living in the arsecrack of the southeast as I do. :frowning:

If one of their clients like Yearsley only pay £8.50ph for C+E which is a rate you can easily get around here at other agencies for C2 work, then WTF are they going to pay at best connection for C2 work in your area■■? :open_mouth:

My agency are screaming out for C2 drivers to take up perm contracts at P&H on that rate, because they just can’t fill the jobs. (Medway Valley)
Maybe the hourly rate is too low, or maybe that job will give you muscles in your spit - either way, there it is. :astonished:

I just haven’t had a call. Full Stop.

I didn’t dictate my rates but then I was straight out the test centre… Oh hang on this is starting to sound like another topic I recently read

My experience was no longer than the phone call…some ■■■■■ reading from his hyme sheet, never again arrogant little twot…

All good at the Teesside office. Decent folks to work with.

Seems like it depends on the branch then. I’ve been to see them this morning. So far so good. They pay more than the current lot and say most of their work is local. I’ll probably be starting with them next week so we’ll see how it goes.

Tacho test was easy

Cheers

my advice don’t bother at the moment thay seem to only want fairys and gnomes!!!

my story goes like this being un-employed I saw a job going locally for 7.5 work (I’m based in Norwich) so a call em up and then went down to there offices in Ipswich back in April thay said thay would be in touch soon. A few weeks later I see em advertising more work nearby so I give em a call explain who I am got put on hold Advert disappeared, then got told that thay were only looking to fill books at the moment fast forward to last week another Advert call em up again explained who I was once again put on hold and ■■■■ no more advert… once again told “were only filling the books” told em to go ■■■■ em selves wiped my arse with that so called contract thay gave me!
