Yep I have an r series top line no problems with interior height. It depends on which cab your boss gets but if its a R series then it will have a low floor. The g and p cabs have night engine humps similar to the old early 4 series r cabs which I think your referring too
I have been tramping in one for a month now and don’t have any issues. Decent storage, comfortable bunk and enough room to move around. Okay you can’t play a round of golf in it, as you could with something like the merc. But I don’t think it’s time to run from what I assume is a good job

So there are some proper trampers still around
We were getting globe trotters 4 weeks ago, now we’ve got skodas-(
R series scanier highlife. Never heard of one.
R730 V8 for me thanks.
Try tramping in an old fm volvo. Now that’s an engine hump. Could barely see the nearside mirror.
Been told today I’m getting a brand new high line
Only saving grace is it’s got a fridge in it, everyone else is getting second hand ones on 65 plate cause I’m the only one that looks after my truck apparently
Just a highline? I’d jack to be honest

Looks like my [zb] head boss/firm owner have struck a deal too good to turn down on these pieces of crap. I was under the impression the G series is more of a tramping wagon but would love to hear I’m wrong.
If it’s the cab I think it is with the big hump in and no space then I’m definitely on the look for another tramping job and sharp.
The R series isn’t crap - it’s the top of the line until the S series comes out later this year and is their long haulage truck. The G is the middle of the line and has a higher engine hump than the R, even though they look alike.

Ah but you are missing the point. You aren’t a real trucker without a big cab. Real truckers point and laugh at little highline cabs.

I’m missing the point? The R-series is a big cab, unless only an American motorhome tractor unit counts as a big cab.

Sorry you are also missing my sarcasm. I’ve been tramping (or nighting out for the purists) in a highline for 9 and a half years. I’ve not had a topline for 11 years. I can’t see the problem. Back in the day i carried a big box of cds, a couple of books and a travel telly. I managed fine in the “pile of crap highline”. Now i have a kindle. And i still manage. I really am stumped when it comes to working out how big truckers can’t manage without a big cab.
Ps I imagine the OP has been trucking for at least 92 gazillion years so therefore knows his stuff.
Whinging about small cabs, think of the car transporter lads, they survive.
Maybe we can get Ed stafford to film a survival program “marooned in a low cab” for a week
People who think the R series isn’t a 'big cab ’ have obviously never had to tramp in a Renault premium, with its big engine hump, which I might add I didn’t mind. I don’t see the obsession with flat floors, for one how much time do you actually spend standing inside the thing, and secondly the hump keeps the dirt from spreading out of the drivers footwell.
I think it’s far more important to have a decent bunk than needless space.
But each to their own.
oh dear what a shame try a b series erf 4/5 night out a week thats living the dream

Used to meet up with drivers from a well known Lancashire haulier who ran many B series ERFs with " rest cabs " with a fold down bunk . The drivers spent 3/4 nights a week in the cab , the motors were always immaculate and I never heard anyone complaining about their motors . By what I am reading on this particular subject I would suggest some people visit their GP and have their medication checked ■■?.
