Anyone tramp in an R series scanier?

Looks like my ■■■■ head boss/firm owner have struck a deal too good to turn down on these pieces of crap. I was under the impression the G series is more of a tramping wagon but would love to hear I’m wrong.
If it’s the cab I think it is with the big hump in and no space then I’m definitely on the look for another tramping job and sharp.

G series has the bigger engine hump than the R series!

I used to tramp in an R highline (not topline), i’m 6’2" and could stand up fully on the engine hump… which is more than I can say for my current home from home a Merc Actros. So, unless you’re a giant, you’ll be fine!

you must be in a baby actros then!

I’m 6,2 not sure if highlife. We’ve got a demo in the yard, is have to crawl around it constantly and that’s no good for spending all week in it :unamused:

Deffo. I have to look up at the microwave in mine, and I’m 6’4.

It’s the middle one i think, but the engine hump is bloody massive. Only place i can stand up fully is under the sunroof, and only if i retract the flyscreen

I want my scanny back, but unfortunately it’s been scrapped / shipped to Nigeria or whatever. Not sure which is worse, come to think of it :unamused:

Sounds like a day cab  What height is on the indicator, without a trailer on?

I am a short arse at 5’9" and I can just about touch the roof on my topline, that’s arms stretched and on tiptoes

Can’t be the middle one. I’m yet to discover all the terminology of MB, but mine deffo isn’t a gigaspace, I was under the impression it was a bigspace, and I can could jump up and down and not risk a cranium injury.

Flat floor too

Mines of the previous Actros generation, I was also under the impression it was the bigspace (or whatever it was called last time round) no flat floor though. It’s this: flickr.com/photos/131786702 … ist-CuYMJs

I bow down to your superior knowledge. I may never have driven one, but at least I know it’s not a Scanier.

And I was actually replying to Chris

Not sure on height I’m out tonight but one in the yard is crap!
Looking at that pic though there’s hope ha ha

It’s Scania…

Correct spelling as follows S-K-O-D-A

I used to tramp in an R series Highline, that came after a 4 series topline then a V8 R series Topline, then another Topline, so when presented with a shopping trolley Highline, I mean it was devoid of all the goodies the previous toplines had had, I was somewhat gutted, but I grew to like my shopping trolley, so much so that I jacked in a couple of years later

Now at my present employer, I’m on my 3rd R series topline, Kinda quite like the Topline

I currently drive a Normal cab G series and it’s fine for day work and the very occasional night out due to the hump in the middle . The lads who night out regular at where I work have R series high line cabs which seem OK especially as the majority have the pull out bunk in them which seems better than the bog standard Scania bed with the 2 cushions that fold in behind the seats . I used to have a R series top line when I first started where I work and would say they are more ideal for tramping all week than a Highline cab but saying that our lads seem to cope with there Highline cabs all week .

I used to night out the odd time in a R series Scania(highline)for Canute, and drove R series(highline’s) most days for Stobart’s.

JUST about acceptable for tramping in my view, although I am 6’ 4" and had to stand directly under the sunroof to be reasonably upright. Topline would be a must for me if I was tramping. The big Actros has loads of room, but the dash mithers the hell out of my left knee even with the drivers seat fully back.

Don’t mention the Actros bud, this is a Scanier only thread.

But you’re right, it does play havoc with your knees, at least when I had my MAN I could stick my left foot on the hump in the floor.
