Punchy Dan:
i use mine when I’am a ‘stranger’ going to another quarry out of my area or on logger routes ect where others use the cb ,I wouldn’t be with out it even though I don’t run with anyone .
They were pretty much essential on the tipper job Dan, finding works access points on Motorway jobs or knowing when the previous truck had tipped so you could start getting the sheet off and not hold anyone up. Also handy on the B5056 for knowing which bend the Peak Waste flyers were close to so you could tuck your elbows in ready to meet them, and for whiling away the time on the A38 with ‘Mr Punch’ ‘Corn Dolly’ and ‘Early Riser’ etc! Oh and I almost forgot, Eric’s wife Joan (Opal, RIP) who would nip out of the house when you shouted her and press the pedestrian crossing at Matlock Green to stop the traffic when trucks were waiting to get out of the Lime Tree Hill junction!
For home based info the lass at the Mansfield twenty was very good.
In the 80’s there was a bit of a social scene which followed on from young farmers, a club of debauchery, girls who scrubbed up well using pig muck as foundation and lads who could lift a ton but couldn’t spell it. [emoji23]
The last time I used it was moving Millennium Pods, we had CB access to the French Pilot which was fairly monosyllabic. Stop. Go
Go. Drink. Food. Proh Blem!

Who use to go to local eyeballs, or trying to get an eyeball with a pretty voice, and then finding, they had a voice for radio, not a face for TV.
I went to school with a lad whose family were into cb, (We had left at this point.) and they had a daughter of a similar age, who also got into it.
Suffice to say she was actually very different from the normal huffer moose that you would normally see at an eyeball, and we ended up together for quite some time.
Well Im an old schooler in the haulage game, The C B s were very very good in their Heyday, But with all this modern tech stuff they dont have any future IMOO, Mobile phones, Plus all the in cab stuff that drivers have, So thats life IMO All the very best to all & sundrie , Old Larry.
It depends where you want to talk the U.K. muppets would Avoid
Those channels you could listen on Am occasionally get some skip from
States on Chanel 6 or SSB 38 or higher depending on your radio but modern trucks Aren’t radio friendly and can be tricky mounting an Ariel unless you get a special
Mirror bracket made or Mount for the rear of you Cab.

If I am in a 30 zone,I dont pull over because someone behind wants to break the law,so why should I pull over on the a75,by pulling over ,I’m using up valuable time,I’m already disadvantaged because Im sticking to the speed limits.
If you are on the limiter all the time on the a75 you have an u fair advantage,I wish they would put cameras on the whole length of that road, not because I like to see other drivers prosecuted, but because,I shouldnt be economically disadvantaged for simply following the highway code.
I’ve had trucks tailgating me,bullying behaviour when I’m doing 60 in my car!I thought trucks were supposed to be limited to 56.You might find it funny, but the road isn’t owned by trucks,I pay my taxes and I am entitled to drive without being hassled
That EU limit of 90km/h? Britain never had a legal requirement of 56mph limit. It just happens that the trucks were made in the continent, and came in to Britain with the limiter at 90km/h. But there are plenty of trucks around that the owner doesnt want it running to Europe and changed the limiter to 60mph.
