Anyone planning a career change in 2016?

I was reading an article, stating most people change jobs after the Christmas break, as the thought of doing another year is a primary motivator, which kinda sounds about right.

Is anyone planning a career change in 2016? Had enough of agencies and looking for permanent roles? Looking to do a different type of driving role maybe? Perhaps seeking something other than driving in the New Year?

I am. Been waiting And saving until I buy a new house and now that’s happened I’m looking for work away from transport. There has got to be more than living in your cab Monday to Friday. I’m not even too bothered about taking a significant drop in wages.

I’m looking to get rid of my limp.
Apparently us agency workers have such big balls, they get in the way of us walking properly! :open_mouth:

Won’t change, cos on agency(EDITED:) I want to do not more than 2 days work in a week.(mortgage repaid) When I working I like to be free in my cab, make the temperature I like, listening to the music I like, can eat whatever time I like, stopping for a pee whatever time I want.Calling all of my friends, and relatives during working hours.
These things won’t happen if you work with people around you.

Does changing career into the driving industry count for this thread? If so, yep count me in - wanting to change from being lied to about how my current job is “perfectly safe”…to being lied to about hours, loads & how the planner guarantees an early Friday finish this week.

As for anyone wanting to get out of driving, I’ll swap with you even if you do sewage tankers starting at 4am and working 15 hours a day (probably).

I put the feelers out today. Possibly going back to my trade (comms) to get off the road. Might invest in myself with a course of some description to move into something new. I have just made myself effectively (albeit temporarily) unemployed so I have some free time now

FTFY. Updated for the new year.

my neighbour is a window cleaner with several lads work for him . iv always noticed theyre home by 4 often 3 and no early starts . all seem cheery sorts

iv often wondered if i asked him for a job would he take me on .

I’ve had a career change. A few weeks part time in the office. Can’t wait to go back on the road. Drivers do your but in :grimacing:

Yep, been trying ages to get back to the railway…

I’ve applied to be a full time lottery winner…I apply every Saturday and Wednesday’,hoping to get taken on soon failing that I’ll stay driving as I enjoy it.

I applied to nasa for to be an astronaut, but between the travelling and tramping I decided against it.theres also the fact that when theres a unplanned night out, theres no atmosphere in the pubs up there to consider. :unamused:

No but maybe change rolls (if you get what I mean) may make the jump into proper car transporting for like ECM or someone etc.

Or may even try something different like containers or low loaders. But see what happens really.

Just passed all my exams, :grimacing: brain surgeon  Wythenshawe hospital start Monday 04- 01- 16  I think, if I can remember :sunglasses: now then where was I?

Staying in trucking, moving on to fuel tankers

Did I hear pimpdaddies footprints :grimacing:

Wanna be Millionaire perhaps.
Didnt work well toward the First Million. But maybe i shall try towards the second Million.

I ditched my agency just before Christmas, so 2016 is an open book to me at the moment. Stashed away enough cash so I don’t have to go rushing into anything unsuitable.

Whilst I have enjoyed being out and about driving again this summer, there are still way too many rogue hauliers out there, or outfits that don’t think you have a life outside of work.

I was thinking of looking at something new looked at a few jobs on the office side of the industury but meant a big pay cut at least for the next couple of years but my boss called yesterday and has a new venture starting next year and he wants me to be one of the drivers on it so be something new to stop the thoughts of doing something else for a few months.

I’ll hazard a guess, going on your past form that you take at least 2 full time jobs (short term) on the books, then whine about em on TNUK before going back to the agencies each time
