Anyone planning a career change in 2016?

Ive already had my career change in 2015, when the bleak season kicked last January, I became a carer for a relative with Dementia. Maybe 2017 will be the time I return to truck driving. Then at least I’ll be able to work for more money, and work shorter hours.

I ditched my agency just before Christmas, so 2016 is an open book to me at the moment. Stashed away enough cash so I don’t have to go rushing into anything unsuitable.

Whilst I have enjoyed being out and about driving again this summer, there are still way too many rogue hauliers out there, or outfits that don’t think you have a life outside of work.

I’ll hazard a guess, going on your past form that you take at least 2 full time jobs (short term) on the books, then whine about em on TNUK before going back to the agencies each time

I have only packed in one full time driving job this year. If people want to drive vehicles that aren’t fit to be on the road then that is their choice, but it definitely aint mine. Called having a clean license and all that.

Yep, been trying ages to get back to the railway…

Doing what? I went signalling 18 months ago best thing I’ve done.

Won’t change, cos on agency I’m lucky to get 2 days work in a week.

FTFY. Updated for the new year.

Sorry, here is the right one:
“Won’t change, cos I’m on agency(EDITED:) I want to do not more than 2 days work in a week.(mortgage repaid)”
So as an agency I am able to stay at home during the weekdays.

I applied to nasa for to be an astronaut, but between the travelling and tramping I decided against it.theres also the fact that when theres a unplanned night out, theres no atmosphere in the pubs up there to consider. :unamused:

I wouldn’t get out of bed for the money people are being set on with NASA.

yes going ltd cos i now have CE with hiab and experience and now doing tramping on curtains hope its good idea to leave full time and dedicated 15 plate cab to go agency.i do 2 to 3 fifteens a week plus 4 nights out and home take is giveortake 550 i think i can make that being at home everyday yes or no?

If I were on the Edited agency, I think I would be looking at changing careers to Journalism. :stuck_out_tongue:

No, just going to keep plugging away with the Mighty Magnum, but as it’s bought and paid for now I’ll be taking loads of time off over the Summer to go cruising round the canals. When something major goes wrong with the old girl, I’ll probably just keep her as an ornament, go off to do a couple of days’ employed work now and then just for something to do, and deplete my savings on cocaine and prostitutes. :stuck_out_tongue:

I had a major career change in December. Lasted two weeks.
Started driving again last Monday.
Think il be sticking to tramping for the foreseeable future

I left driving 16 months ago to work for Landrover in solihull on the production line.

best move I have ever made. Currently on a 2 shift pattern (2 weeks nights+2 weeks days) with a standard working week of 37 hours. I’m still not used to being home so much

yeah, planning on giving up driving for good when I win the lotto on Saturday, allready bought my winning ticket cos I asked the shop girl for it [lol]

I’ve got no choice in changing since hsf closed, so on the prowl

there was bloke in sheffield today he said: agency told me 60 pound per hour on christmas eve and he’s in this coutry for one year he said

and he also mentioned he is not happy with his 65 plate renault doing ONE RETURN trip to somewhere for 11 p/h obviously it was very hard to explain it his way

i was dragging wheelie bin uphill in rain full of foodwaste and maggots before i jumped on dustcarts but i didn’t say that i was f##speechless just like him by the way

I just found 20p in my ■■■ packet. Should I buy out Stobarts?

I’m hoping to finally make the switch to driving lorries from driving coaches
