I’m on days at Maritime. To be fair it’s a steady job and for my area the pay and benefits are good. My average time off on an evening is 12/13 hours like any driving job you have to take the ruff with the smooth and there’s plenty of smooth at maritime iv had days when I can be at home having been for a run and fed by 1700. People that say you can’t have a life driving are wrong you just have to find a job that suits the life you want, they are out there. As for cab hopping I only did it for about 6 weeks however I think this is more like an assessment period if your a good lad and get the job done and respect the wagon you will have you own shinny wagon in no time, if your the other end of the spectrum then you may be waiting a while. If your a guy who abides by the law smart appearance respect equipment and drive sensibly ( a professional driver not just somebody with a licence) in my opinion you will get on like a house on fire at maritime

No mate, not done spirit since the days of P&O Roadtanks (sigh, going all misty eyed),best job ever. I was working for the ‘other’ large food grade tanker firm in Liverpool, job was great, money was crapola. So I jacked. The boss has offered an insulting pay rise,to an already poor rate, citing times are hard…this was before he disappeared on holiday for the 10th time this year. Barbados I heard.
I will prob go agency and get straight back in at my old place(they specifically said they’d ask for me ) on £2/hr more.
Got an interview 1st week in sept with Sensible Car Transporters(Stobbies)
bald bloke i aint forgot pal its just my boss is not in the office and only seem to run into planners at the mo so no point asking them bud but bare with me im supposed to be in tilbury tomorrow

We’ve had a few of ours go to Maritime, one starts next Tuesday out of Fenny Lock on days, Tuesday to Saturday, pay I believe is £675 p/wk, not sure if there’s any o/t or what bonuses are being offered. He’s doing containers to supermarket RDC’s, so there’s gonna be a lot of sitting around & sleeping. Lol.
I’m going to see how he gets on then I might follow him (or not !)Another mate didn’t last 2 weeks, says it was maxed out hours every day/week.
From what ive seen, maritme do alot of drop and swap, rather than live 3+ hr tips.
Good point, so they’ll be working hard for the money.
I’ll try to get some feed back over the next few weeks, see how he gets on.
My mate lasted 4 days, he said it was 95% sitting in the docks waiting for boxes & he didn’t like that (no patience) so he jacked it & went to Keedwells, I warned him that the money would probably be poor & he jacked that too after 2 weeks.
He’s on for Hoban’s now hauling waste around the country, money’s not bad but it’s tramping & not much chance of a shower every night, sod that ! I did 3 years on a push out & 10 on Roll ons, FEL’S & Dustcarts, couldn’t not have a shower after doing that all day.
I’m gonna stay put for the time being (better the devil you know & all that !) clean general haulage, not the best money in the world but it does me.
Any idea what wages are on offer at the donny depot? Tried calling but number used is switched off (sent cv via email) cheers.

Chucked it all now but it was roughly £10 something or another i wouldn’t have asked any questions if it was £7.65.
I get the pay isn’t great but what are they like to work for and is it weekly pay etc.
