Anybody trained with atlas doncaster?

So, in a few weeks I’m moving back to mum and dads to save 400 a month, so in 3 months ish I’ll have £1200

Now atlas is just down the road 1.3 mile to be exact, but reading this forum I have decided to get some research upon this company, are they worth going with? I don’t mind travelling upto 50 mile for the right company if they are a better choice offering more for my hard earned min wage money, just would like some advice with people in similar circumstances/experienced folk

Thanks

Hi. Have you considered asking for a Christmas Discount Voucher - value £400 - which makes our CAT C course just £950.

I’m not going to knock Atlas, but I suggest you have an assessment with them and perhaps come to Mansfield and have a free assessment with us as well.

Send me a pm with your name and address for a voucher.

Pete

But in 3 maybe 4 months down the line this voucher will be invalid right?

Many thanks Chris

I did my ‘C’ with Atlas about four years ago, didn’t do my C+E. I failed C twice before I passed but they were really helpful and accommodating, I failed two tests in November then I had two tests cancelled due to bad weather in December. The test I passed on was on the 3rd January 2011, I hadn’t drove for about six weeks. I felt I needed some more “wheel time” I went out on new years morning as he wanted to get me through the test!
Also at the time they did the tuition on more of a pay as the go basis £100 for a two hour session two or three times a week rather than the full week, It worked well for me as I felt it gave me more time to take it all in.
All in all I was pleased with the learning experience with them.

But in 3 maybe 4 months down the line this voucher will be invalid right?

NO! The vouchers can be used against any full CAT C, CE, D or periodic driver cpc training until the end of 2015.

This is getting boring now every post is about vouchers now. I even got offered some lol

Paul

I think I’m after a weeks course… Need it passing, Pete can we discuss further in pm? many thanks Chris

Sorry if you find it boring Paul. Maybe some forum users may be interested in taking advantage of what we offer at relatively low cost. Certainly seems to be the case.

Pete

Try GTA Doncaster, I’ve worked with them before and they are really good, I recommend them, or give us a try.

I know what you’re saying Paul, I’m not against marketing (which is a job in itself) but I believe in a fair price for a good job and unless our costs go down the price remains the same (fuel has come down recently). I can do it cheaper but will have to reduce my costs in a variety of ways but as a stubborn yorkshireman I’m reluctant to lower our standards, for example I could have bought MAN trucks rather than our 3 new Volvo’s and saved £40,000 but they wouldn’t be as easy to drive (test drove MAN, Volvo, DAF), or reduce instructor wages - employ less capable staff, reduce training time by finishing early, have more tea breaks, do less town driving to name just a few options. We could absorb the price reduction, but then what about all the other customers who paid the full price? I don’t think its fair on them to have been charged more, its like how banks offer deals to new customers but neglect their existing ones. However I discount forklift training all the time, to boost numbers and get 3 trainees on the courses where possible, so i can see both sides. I’m sure customers do like discounts but I have to be careful to keep our company profitable to provide a secure future for all of us that work for Tockwith Training and uphold our standards/beliefs that hopefully our customers are looking for.

I think a lot of driving schools do like to generate sales around xmas time as it nice to have january fully booked before finishing for xmas, we aren’t a massive driving school but this week i’ve got 19 assessments to do, so hopefully we should fill up January before we finish 2014, but we always start each new year with great anticipation for what may be ahead, it could be bad, good or even GREAT! and after 43 years we never like to feel too confident, you never know when the next recession will hit, the last one took out a lot of our competitors but we weathered the storm and survived to re-invest in new trucks and keep providing top quality LGV Training, its never easy but then running a company never is. For example I have to miss out on taking my two little daughters to a Christmas Adventure Show on saturday to do 4 driving assessments, but as I’ve said already - I want to see the whole of January booked before xmas! Don’t feel too sorry for the little darlings, I dropped them off at nursery this monday in a massive Volvo Globetrotter tractor unit, here she is in the summer trying to get used to a 3 over 3 range change with splitter gearbox in the truck, took to it pretty well, I assessed her at needing a 21 hour course, adapted well to the size of the vehicle once I gave a lift up into the cab! She loves trucks as much as me!

I respect you for sponsoring the forum and has its benefits of splashing your logo around the perimeter of the page.

But does it give you the right to trawl the forum looking out for potential new customers using your voucher discount scheme as bait to catch them?

I had to laugh when you sent me a PM in error recently offering me a voucher discount.

Paul

Just to put a small point over: the vouchers cannot be used until February - so maybe the comments about getting January booked are a bit off the mark?

I have run the school for the last 30 years and have a pretty good idea about marketing. I also fully understand that many folks appreciate a genuine price reduction. Having had a brilliant year we’re able to offer Trucknet members remarkable discounts during 2015. We don’t have the need to make a profit from everyone coming through the door. It really is that simple.

BTW, I can only think that you picked a poor MAN to test drive. Ours is faultless and certainly the staff are campaigning to have more on fleet.

Pete

Hi mate im from Doncaster. Im doing mine through Tal Training in sheff. Hes based right next door to the test centre and i he got my mate through it easy. Ive just passed my Multiple choice hazard and cpc with his training material and booked in for my practical now.

A wide range of training quality and facilities are being talked about here. Strongly recommend visiting the trainer and having a good look around.

Professional HGV Training Courses

Atlas LGV Training is a Driver Standards Agency (DSA) accredited training school.

Have a look at dft.gov.uk/fyn/lgv.php

Unless I’m missing something, I think the truth has got a little twisted down the line.

Not wishing to be picky - but this just isn’t the case. They are about 3 miles from the test centre - which although is quite close - is not next door.

Tbf Pete your attitude is what has put me off even considering you as a trainer. They are not 3 miles away from the test centre. In fact if you put it on google maps its exactly 0.3 miles. Which in all fairness may as well be next door. All the post i see on here is you trying to poach people off others. If you think 0.3 miles is 3 miles then you must think 2 mile is 20mile :unamused: etc.

Maltravers Road - the address used on their website - is 3 miles from the test centre.

It’s a free country and folks will go where they will.

I never try and “poach” anyone else’s customer. But I am happy to offer our services whilst folks are trying to make a decision.

Apologies if this has caused you a problem.

Pete

Think you’ll find they are on Orgreave Road and the test centre is on Orgreave way.

OK, I may be wrong with their location. But most companies keep their website up to date to avoid this.

Pete

This is why I like to keep my business small, I don’t have to chase work as it doesn’t take many bookings to fill my diary. In fact January is just about all booked.

Having said that if I could find a good instructor and I mean good to keep my good name going I would be happy to employ on a self employed basis.

Decisions decisions■■?
