Any veiws on new law regarding head lights on all day

Being seen is a great idea, high vis vests are great also.

My pet hate at the mo is drivers at dawn and dusk without their lights on, next time you see a driver without his lights on in such a scenario, take a look at the make of the vehicle. 7 times outta 10 it will be a toyota, the clocks are lit permanently giving the driver the false impression that he has his/her lights on. A truly ‘numpty’ idea from Toyota and other makes that do this.

if its Insurance led then as soon as it comes in I expect them to bring my premiums down! :imp:

Oh Scarab, you poor thing … anything the insurance industry has a hand in is designed to keep their costs down - not ours! :imp:

8) So are the lads ( and Lasses ) with a 6 bar of xenon lights on top, 6 xenon lights on the front grill, 30 plus blue / yellow/ red ( pick appropriate colour ) marker lights around the front of the cab, 30 plus of the same, down either side of the unit, a ropelight around the windscreen and a couple of blue neons on the dash, along with their headlights and front fogs on …

just erring on the safety side ■■ :open_mouth:

But if they don’t have their headlights on you’ll not see them.

Another stupid nanny-state idea. People now need 55w of bulbs in their faces 24/7 to stop them from driving into each other. FFS what is the world coming to? :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Have to agree with Rob

Me too :unamused:

For some years it has been advised on the long, flat, straight roads (single track, not dual carriageways) of The Landes in SW France, which is between Bordeaux and the Spanish border, and indeed it does help to spot oncoming vehicles in the haze of distance but is of no use elsewhere except in poor visibility.
There has been a suggestion to extend it to the rest of France and to make it compulsory but the bike lobby, and me, are fiercely opposed to it.

I have to agree with lights on all the time, there are many instances when it’s not dark when lights make you stand out, such as when there is rain on mirrors it makes it difficult to see whats coming from behind, I drive a LDV Maxus at work and it’s got automatic heated mirrors which also cause mirrors to become encrusted with crap very quickly. We have been told we must use lights when dropping in town centres etc. I drive a dark green MPV and using lights during day even in summer makes a difference as to how oncoming traffic reacts.

Having lights automatically come on with wipers is a good idea…

BUT I DON’T USE F/FOGS ALL DAY/NIGHT like some numpties

arriva buses have been doing this for years, they said it cut the accidents down,by 59%.

Are you telling me 59% of the people who crashed into the buses before they started putting their headlights on crashed into it because they didn’t see it? :unamused: Sounds like bologney to me.
