Hi,
I might be placing a couple of Tractor units in the Girona area within the next three/four weeks,
are there any drivers living in this region looking for work.
It will be Loading Barcelona etc to UK and back to Barcelona area.

no mate. i’ve done the “Hi Phil mate, listen, can you do a quick Barcelona and back? tipping tuesday morning, loading 20ks away in the afternoon, then straight up.”
“no problem, consider it done”
then on tueday lunchtime. “Phil, erm hi mate everthing ok?”
“yes great”
“arrrrr, errrrrm, things have changed, we need you to go to Faro”
i love it, funny as [zb].
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the interest, but I need drivers based in Spain, because every second trip my son will tip and load
the trailer, giving the driver his 45 hours off.
It will also give him something to do for the money that he costs me every week having a nice life in Spain !!

so after the first trip there’s no 45 off? and after the second just a 45 no compensation? hope the moneys real good because thats a bit much for a spanish based driver unless of course he lives in the truck then there’s no worry about where he’s based but why have a property in spain and not enjoy it?
we do the UK round trip in 8 days then take at least 2 off maybe 3 with the hours we have to make up
i smell a rat.
mines a genuine question dafydd, always keep your options open i say but what you smell is would you pull a trailer through france thats been loaded by someone else? thats a bit dodgy if it were loaded in certain areas if you know what i mean
what i can,t understand is why base two trucks in girona when you can turn around in 5 days.
it might be cheaper to base them in spain especially if his son is already there and needs something to do and your 5 days all depends on where they are going in the uk, but it seems as if they will be doing more than 5 days as his son will be working so the driver can get 45hrs off
just a note to the OP if he reads this but to get a “tarjeta de transporte” you’ll either need 30k euros or buy 3 trucks instead of 2 then its free
Can I throw my hat in the ring please.
I will be coming back to the UK on the 13th of oct and I want to work till jan 2011.
I want to live in the truck whilst Im in Europe and save on expenses.
If you would like me to come to your yard for a chat, please let me know.
It would give you time to look for a permanent driver or if in Jan 2011 work drops off,you dont have
to worry about making me redundant.
Cheers Paul.
P.S. lets see if I can still get a job by recommendation and word of mouth.
8 days to do Spain and then 2 /3 days off■■? Whats happened to the old ways? i.e. if you take more than 5 days to do Spain, the job`s not worth it! (Livestock or fridges)

sorry john but the days of running bent are long gone with digitachos and big fines, as you can see from my profile i live near malaga so 1st tacho gets me to almazan 2nd to vivonne 3rd gets me to the M25 so 4th tacho gets me nearly anywhere in UK, then reverse the process is the same mileage plus you need a 24 off so when i get home i take 45 plus 21, like i said whats the point of having a place in spain if you don’t take time to appreciate it?

£20 for the top bunk, camion stew is a compulsory meal three times per day, with luxury outside toilet.
I understand that WBIS, makes you think tho doesn`t it? how times have changed.
The way you said where you stop and how far you can get each day, makes it sound like a milk round, we just used to get as far as we could as quick as we could, tip, wash out, get to reload asap, then back up, then do it again to wherever we were asked to go.
And every trip was different even the calf job, where we had trucks going most days of the week to the same places, sometimes we would meet and run with someone, one of our own, or a Dutch pig truck etc and we would “light them up “or we would just plod on down on our own, every trip was different. We very rarely ran with U.K trucks, we were frowned upon, usual crap,” young blokes racing about, and pinching everyones loads”(just because we backloaded anything and everything in livestock boxes). Truth is, yes we worked very hard, but we were paid very well and always had the kit to do the job.Best job I ever had.
i’m with you on that john, unfortunately the good old days are gone now, just plod on and chill out in my old age
