i’ve recently done a trip to barcelona. i went down on sunday to newhaven, left dieppe early monday, tipped barcelona tuesday pm, reloaded in lyon on wednesday with apples, i was back home on friday.
came back via calais/dover.
that was done legally.
if it takes 8 days, there must be some serious [zb]ing about where your tipping or loading.
Makes you think doesn’t it. Not proud of it now, but we use to work on the basis that if you got your papers early enough on a friday in Zona Franca you could get the saturday afternoon boat from Caen and be in the Rudmore for a pint on saturday night. Mad, bad old days.

if you read the post i stated that its 8 days round trip from malaga phil which is slightly further than barca, you’ve done 6 days but its at least a day more to malaga plus you need a 24 break, simples.
my original question was as you’ve just done a round trip in 6 days and the OP said the driver gets a 45 after 2 trips how would that work?
WBS, in Spain do you get pulled much ?. More or less than foreign vehicles ?. Are the spanish ministry as hot as the UK ?. What about in the UK, do you think you get a lot of hassle ?.
JJSL:
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the interest, but I need drivers based in Spain, because every second trip my son will tip and load
the trailer, giving the driver his 45 hours off.
It will also give him something to do for the money that he costs me every week having a nice life in Spain !!

so after the first trip there’s no 45 off? and after the second just a 45 no compensation? hope the moneys real good because thats a bit much for a spanish based driver unless of course he lives in the truck then there’s no worry about where he’s based but why have a property in spain and not enjoy it?
we do the UK round trip in 8 days then take at least 2 off maybe 3 with the hours we have to make up
Hi WBS,
It still seems like you cannot see out passed them Frilly Curtains ■■?
Anyway, I’m looking for drivers who live in the North of Spain and load out of Barcelona area running to UK and back, the 1st trip the driver will Load/tip etc his own trailer, and on the next trip he can have 45 hours plus i.e he would be back Saturday night and that would mean he’s had Sunday/Monday/Tuesday off !!! is that enough hours off, or he can go and park up and stay in the cab for his time off, but me, I would prefer to go home to my Villa and relax and so would most normal people.
So, you have never done a turnround in Spain with a trailer that someone else has loaded !! Davies Turner do it every week in Algercias on the Morocan work and as for

That’s because you’ve got you Head so far up your Arse, it’s not a Rat because Rat’s can be useful !!!

what i can,t understand is why base two trucks in girona when you can turn around in 5 days.
Because I want to !! any reason why I should not ! Please enlighten me, I smell a RAT !!
Well, what can I say, I just wanted to ask a question to see if any English drivers looking for work lived in Girona/Barcelona area
and you end up with the Spanish Inquisition.

at this point i wish i could quote from the famous monty python sketch about the spanish inquisition but i’m too young and can only remember it vaguely
i simply noticed, as you have repeated above, that the driver will be doing 2 trips before he gets a weekend in his villa like most normal people, sorry to disappoint you but i’m normal and prefer family time to truck time, but don’t get too upset i was only asking for a little bit of clarity.
as for other people loading trailers i have worked for 2 co.s in spain and both have had drivers arrested for unknowingly having drugs in their load so i just keep an eye out for anything nowadays unlike browncow2 i’m a little more discreet with my questions

get pulled in spain if there is a control, got pulled today in fact coming up the big hill out of malaga went through everything and found that last month i’d done 90hrs16mins over 2 weeks but as i got my diary out to add up my hours he said not too bad don’t worry about it.
as for france i have noticed that since changing 4 years ago from a UK plated truck to a spanish one i hardly ever get pulled by the douannes whereas plenty of people i speak to in gib or algeciras with UK trucks are always getting pulled so i think there’s something to be explained there.
the guardia seem to pull more foreigners i think maybe because they can get bigger fines from them but they always seem pretty fair with me.
as for the UK its more of a laugh, on my last trip a copper asked me if i spoke english regardless of the fact that my ADR plate has a welsh flag on if not displaying orange and I’ve got another flag across the back of my cab. but we always get stopped by customs in dover or portsmouth looking for drugs because they know we come from the costa del sol capital of cocaine in europe but while we’re being examined there are cars going through that never get stopped and could have anything on, i just get used to the customs in the UK now they’ve even drilled a hole in my headboard which i asked them not to repair so every time now they put the camera in it saves them some time

the reason i smell a rat is, i personaly would never have anyone load a trailor for me in spain. when i did spain i allways tried to find out what was going in the back of my trailor. and on the point of having wagons based in northen spain as far as i,m concerned you have the right to do what you want. but my opinion is it would be easier to ship a trailor to a northen port and turn around. no offence ment.

Interesting stuff WBS, but La Coruna / Vigo is the cocaine capital of europe. Costa del Sol is more hashish.
for importing yes but the 2nd most popular place for coke in europe is marbella, the first being good old blighty
the vigo, coruna trail has been going for years because thats the way the IRA used to ship the stuff after they had to pay for the ammunition somehow and they weren’t making enough out of certain timeshares on the costas, there’s one in my town thats “owned by the irish farmers union” yeah whatever
I think it is the shipping links with south america from that area. Know what you mean about marbella though !. I don’t think the irish will be buying anything for a while, there so skint even the poles are clearing out.
cant be bothered replying to a driver i have just come back from figures so says alot about wot u would be like to work for obviousley some of the posts must be near to the bone
All the OP was asking 'does any ex pats want a job out of Barcelona? Then every one who has replied who have no interest in the job whatsoever are more or less saying it’s a drugs run… The option was there for those seriously interested in the job to PM the man and make your own mind up like adults and keep your nose out of yer mans business…
It was’nt long ago I remember everyone on here told a young lad to accept a job driving a tipper to Milan ’ fill yer boots you said it’s an adventure that it was… If I could drive on the right: I would snap at it
