Another "training provider"

Lol i phoned these clowns up for a laugh the idiot i spoke claims that class 2 is upto 7.5 ton he says im wrong and im a class 1 and pcv licence holder he claims that one initial cpc covers both classes of licence if the courses are taken together its not its 2 i know this as i had to do a seperate one for each lol

They don’t want to answer calls from “witheld numbers” either   , but call from a landline and it’s answered within a couple of rings

Got a bit more info (for what it’s worth).

Someone who phoned them then spoke to me and give me this information.

They maintain the training centres are “theirs” but wont release the addresses of them until £100 deposit has been paid. No mention of the driver cpc, but when pushed on it, came back with a half price offer (£150) but didn’t ask if acquired rights were in place so had no idea what cpc was needed!

Couldn’t give any info about about the trucks. The customer was offered training less than 3 miles from his home - - there is no training centre closer than 8 miles (and that’s me). But was also offered training in Mansfield and was told this had a better pass rate. I’ve already said in another thread that the only trainer in Mansfield is me and I have nothing whatsovever to do with Drive and Earn. So I have no idea what they are talking about.

Was clearly keen to get the £100.

Full course, incl medical, online theory, theory tests, prac course and test is quoted at £1199 which is very reasonable.

Sounds like the sales talk was identical to that from other brokers. Buyer beware.

Hopefully they will go broke without taking too much money from unsuspecting people along the way.

Depends on what they deem as a full course

A full course could be 12 hours … including test time !!

Not so reasonable …

Before I went to Crosshands training to do my C+E, I did a search on Google (other search engines are available) for reviews on the company. This is before I came across this site.

I did find a company (which I now know was a broker) that offered me everything I needed and a training \ test date within weeks all for £1150 (less than crosshands training). The sales pitch kicked in with a cracking line “AFTER YOU PASSED YOUR TEST WE GURANTEE YOU WORK!” I delved further into that statement by asking - “how”? “BECAUSE WE WORK WITH THE BIGGEST EMPLOYMENT COMPANIES.” was the reply.

By now I was jumping at the bit. Then came the “FOR A ONE OFF FEE OF £300” line, which was on top of the £1150.

Luckily I found this site and everything became clearer. BUT, and a big BUT
at that; how come these companies can trade \ advertise with little or no restrictions?

What’s stopping me from setting up a website calling myself “MT Wallet training” and then doing one?

Very little, it seems.

Your conscience.

Why not all trainers start a new style broker. 50 locations cheaper price. The difference you can visit the trucks have an assessment no £50k job but a licence.

The customers would find that so boring. Nobody believes truth any more.

It’s not about reality it seems to be about providing the dream.

Why not all trainers start a new style broker.

I started some research on this a few years ago and there was zero interest from the trade.

Heaven knows why!

Pete

Maximum of 2 trainers per county all working independently but also part of a syndicate/consortium which has an agreed price and course contents as well as what they normally provide.

£10 or £20 per month each to cover google costs and the website. Customers choose from the list of 50 or so addresses. Brokers would not last 2 months.

But you are right Pete this industry has never and will probably never know co operation.

Strange thing is by providing training services to the brokers those trainers are already in a consortium of sorts.

No LGV training schools dealing with brokers = no more brokers

No LGV training schools dealing with brokers = no more brokers

This is very true. But too simplistic. Until schools sort out their marketing/telephone answering, they will always have spaces to take “broker” work. The majority of trainers are one man bands - nothing at all wrong with that - but it means they cant spend the time with potential new trainees and the one at the side of them in the cab. And this is where their marketing goes wrong and makes them remain as one man bands.

I was the same, of course. We all start as one man bands. I had a stroke of very good fortune as I couldn’t work due to ill-health some 25+ years ago. So I employed an instructor and I stayed at home and answered the phone. Best thing that could have ever happened. I was forced into a position where I had to get the work - I now had wages to pay - and I’ve never looked back.

So, for the forseeable future, the brokers will get the work as they have marketing people who will sell the courses. And the one man bands will be glad of having the work passed to them.

Pete

Hmmm hitting head against brick wall. I have called this company on a number of occasions to get their side, but it seems they don’t want to talk to us- as all the promised ring backs never happen- have spoken to JAUPT and they don’t know of the company and say their logo should not be on the website, same with the DVLA,
So I posed as a punter and called and asked if I could visit one of their training establishments- apparently not - as not insured until the deposit is paid :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

I am just of the phone to these clowns, what a bunch of cowboys! The sales rep was asking me about lgv training as he wasn’t to sure! Got my address narrowed down till the Isle of Wight then till Carlisle even though I told him I was in the Isle of Man, then there nearest test centre was in Cardiff lol, I could of got a great deal for c+e at £1199, if I put down a £600 deposit there and then without them giving me any details of where in Cardiff the training was to take place!
How anyone could fall for there crap is beyond me!

Fools & their money are soon parted. There is little can be done to stop them, even if you shouted from every rooftop there will always be a few not listening.

The best way to shut down these scams is to SHAME the authorities we employ into actually getting up off their backsides & use the laws that are already in place.

Most of these companies run legally - just inside the law so it would need a change in the law to deal with them

If I could spare the time & money, I’d ID the players concerned. Then pay the money, then play along with the game.

I reckon they’ll break at least 5 laws in the process. 2 of them will be classed as serious offences.

Why can’t my Police force, that I employ to enforce my laws do this on my behalf?

& no, it would’t be classed as entrapment.

The only way to " deal" with businesses like this is to try and publicise them for what they really are- and hope the more we do this the more people may avoid them. Still don’t see why we can’t have a “broker list” on here somewhere- people can then make their own choice, I’m sure there isn’t anything wrong in naming someone as a broker when that is exactly what they are
