I looked at that rigid but it has a different number plate than DATAs

The front looks like a couple of others I used to see at Weedon

What are the numbers on the door ?

ROG:

ROG, there’s no easy way to say this, but the reason for that is mentioned above…

Data Academy:
Well I know I run nice clean trucks…but imagine what conversation I have had with this companies MD when I SAW MY TRUCK on their website complete with our name and logo, admitted it is one of our old trucks we no longer have, they now have seven days to remove it as my next conversation with them is through my solicitor

ROG:

Yes ROG, I guess that’s because you’d see plenty of trucks with “L” plates on at Weedon. :exclamation:  :grimacing:

If its an EX company truck then what legal right does the EX owner have over it ?

ROG:
If its an EX company truck then what legal right does the EX owner have over it ?

ROG,

This isn’t anything to do with a legal right over the truck itself.

People simply cannot go around nicking stuff from websites without permission, then using it for their own purposes.

Without objecting to the use of an image (or text) without permission, there’s the possibility of somebody else making the assumption that the owner of the image/text supports the ‘new’ use of it.

Would you want a broker to use something that is identifiable as yours?

Given that no permission has been given, the new use of that picture breaks the law and is therefore illegal. End of.

When I sell trucks, I either remove the name or there is an agreement that it will be removed within ■■ days. I’m sure Rick will have done something similar but it relies on the purchaser sticking to their side of the deal.

There is a company down south that regularly buys my trucks and runs them, with my agreement, with the stripes but changes the name.

The irony is, though, that I doubt whether “Drive and Earn” own any trucks - let alone this particular one. So they could have used any truck and photoshopped it.

I am still surprised that people setting up these websites don’t put the effort in to be more accurate. But they’re not attempting to give information. All they want is the credit card number.

My word of the month for this type of carry on is “shabby”.

It has been said dozens of times on the forum: Always visit the training provider before parting with money. The only exception to this is rock-solid recommendation. It is clear that Drive and Earn don’t have any trucks so the simple request to visit will be greeted with some bull about health and safety and insurance. But if you cant see it, sit in it and go vroom vroom, leave it alone. The course could be as imaginary as the truck.

As always, buyer beware (and thanks to John for giving us all the heads up on this one)

Pete

Anyone phoned them yet?

Pete

Stealing images from anothers website is obviously not right

Was Pete referring to calling them re the picture or just calling them in general ?

I tried to call them to wind them up a little - insisting on an assessment drive for starters

Ooops! Another one just popped up!!

hgvtraining.co.uk/

Gave them a call and asked if I could visit the nearest centre to me. I can’t I was told as your not insured.

Insured? What.

Ahhh, I see…so this company is owned by Specialised Training Services, who were formally Advantage HGV.

Buyer beware!!!

It is my truck, they took the photo from here plus.google.com/107833074934652 … otos?hl=en photo shoped the side and stretches the picture you can still see the logo on the door analso the front.

Rog the reason the reg number is different because it is still on it’s origonal number, but believe me thats my truck and it is standing on our airfield.

Pete I do de sticker vehicles when sold we owned this at the time this pic was taken, I also know where this truck is now and see it weekly

All you trainers with Jaupt approval may want to ring Jaupt to ask them what they are going to do about the unauthorised use of the Jaupt logo (I have) because like all you guys we have a huge investment in CPC and have paid for the use of that logo.

All the best Rick

Very naughty of people to use your photo and put it on another site
