This is obviously a popular topic on here, three different threads on the same event following on from the original one a few weeks ago.
Having had many a close encounter with motor vehicles over the years I’m surprised it came to mild fracas in the street, usually they drive off or I cycle away, which makes me think “what happened before”. Now I’m not having a go at the driver but you only get the incident from his static camera, starting from when he wanted it to start. It’s just a pity that the cyclist doesn’t have a helmet cam to see his version. On that note, why is a camera in the cab a good idea for the driver, to prove what happened, when a cyclist with a helmet cam, presumably for the same reason, is looked upon as a “Lycra clad camera warrior”?
While I’m on I’ll say thanks to all the drivers that have gone out of their way to keep me safe on the road despite myself, even the three that have knocked me off because “sorry mate I didn’t see you”, close brushes too many to count, including last Wednesday’s tipper driver that got so close he put dirt on my shoulder while doing 40 in a 30 zone, just to get to the red traffic lights ahead first.
Lastly to the “members” that “would have put him in hospital if it was me” you are the true bellends.
Hi Billy, I am the driver. The reason for the camera is quite simple, in the event of an accident it will prove (even if only to my boss) who was at fault. The camera is mine as I value my license.
Imagine this, the phone at work rings and some numpty on a bike says that I tried to run him off the road and when we got to the lights he started to beat me up. Who is my boss going to believe? After this incident, my boss has now bought cameras for all their vehicles.
I do have footage from before this but it only shows me leaving the yard and getting to the lights. No other incidents took place and the first I saw of the loony was after I set off from the lights. It does make me chuckle when folk say ‘Ah but what happened before’ I started work four hours before this took place, you are welcome to scour the footage if you want to.
Generally I don’t really care about cyclists holding me up, I get paid by the hour but this knob put himself in a stupid place and the last thing I want to do is tell his wife/kids/parents that there was nothing I could do to save his life. I was angry as we were driving along but after I got out and he let rip, I just wanted to calm him down. I wasn’t in danger, he wasn’t in danger.
The conversation went along the lines:
Him- I’m going to do you
Me- Listen pal, calm down
H- Your f%$#ing having it
M- Have you finished now?
H- No, I’m going to batter you
M- Are you done now?
H- you pri&k
M- (leg sweep and pull down) Stay down you fu#$ing knob
Hope this clears it up for you. Any more questions?
I’ve no reason to doubt your version of events at all, why would I when I wasn’t there. You have to admit though that it is very unusual for, what appears to be, a daily occurrence to end up in handbags.
As for the camera I’ve no problem with those either, we have them fitted in our trucks. My point is that, while its a good piece of kit for the truck, when a cyclist has one they are seen as nutters, why is that?
If you have no reason to doubt then why say ’ what happened before’ and ’ only from where he wanted to start it (the video)'?
I would think that most drivers use cameras for the same reason as me, for protection of some sort. I feel that most cyclists use theirs to show their place in society, as they are often loathed in their lack of road sense, common sense, arrogance and stupidity. Most of this is brought on themselves by their own actions. Very few motorists fix a dashcam in their vehicles and then use the roads with total disregard for others and post the resulting footage online
Yes I do say “what happened before”. You might have been the first incident of the day for this chap, making me think he’s a little highly strung to be on the roads on anything bigger than shoes, or you could have been his fifth of the day making you the last straw to him.
And yes, from where you started the vid, I’m not saying you have but people tend to cut out the bits making them look bad.
My experience of motorists, not truck drivers in the main although they do have their moments, is that they wouldn’t put a dash cam in their cars as it would show them just how poorly they do drive, and some also use the roads with total disregard for others, the difference being I’m unlikely to do much damage to anyone, or anything, on my bike, motor vehicles on the other hand…
Bluey Circles:
Well they have finally found an errant cyclist, or at least an idiot on two wheels that barely resembles a cyclist, 10 years in the waiting and finally they have found a complete fruit loop, so presumably we are going to get an action replay every week until the end of time.

You’ve been on this forum for 2 months?

Or cares…
you’re the one counting the months
My point is more that if you think this is the FIRST errant cyclist shown on this forum, then where have you been Susan?
It’s one of many that certain members have posted on the forum to show that SOME cyclists need to take more responsibility for their actions, and it isn’t ALWAYS the truck drivers fault when accidents happen. For a start, i didn’t see Honked throw any punches, yet was probably well within his rights to defend himself. Instead he did the sensible thing and put the lycra bellend on the floor before he got himself into real trouble, as i think Honked as a reasonable case to bring an assault charge against the cyclist…
As for your PREVIOUS username, why did you need to assume a new identity?
Make a bit of a bellend of yourself maybe■■?

I find imagining other people who may be doing odd things are actually my wife or kids .
This slows me down when driving and allows me to smile at their indiscretions rather than seeing them as the enemy .
You get there alot quicker in the long run
Not quite sure why you need to imagine things to slow you down, just drive safely in the first place
Maybe you missed my post above where I said I don’t mind being held up as I am paid by the hour. I do mind the thought of having to look at the relatives of the person who I killed by not being aware of them.
I have pulled a mate from under a truck who didn’t make it and it aint a pretty sight.

Really honked should contact daily evil and apologise for inconsiderate driving ,
Hardly, now it seems to have gone viral, kerching
Might just take it up as a profession as I have earned more for my 15 mins of fame than I do in a week trying to kill cyclists
Yep a viral vid can become quite lucrative brace yourself for a windfall if it goes global.
If only the cyclist was accountable or identifiable it would be fair to share the earnings.
More fuel for the identifiability = accountability = responsibility = safer cyclists campaign.
Course the best gesture would be to donate any earnings to a cycle safety charity but if it was me I would bank the lot and spend it on a nice new bike, just for irony purposes.
Which is why i wondered why you didnt let him complete his overtake safely ■■
By that logic, why didn’t the cyclist from this thread stop, if (according to you) the road marking/layout was unclear? viewtopic.php?f=2&t=132691
Perhaps (and this is where you’ll have to work with me) the cyclist attempting the overtake, was a complete and total BELLEND who shouldn’t have even attempted the overtake!
As a cyclist myself, I’ve never attempt to overtake a truck and place MYSELF is a compromising position if I thought there was the SLIGHTEST chance I could be hung out to dry there. Call me a chicken, but I call is self preservation and sensible thinking…
As you say yourself, a little patience goes a long way and the cyclist would have got to his destination just as quick, and a lot safer if he’d shown some!

Riding around withs girls mudguards on .
Embaaaaarraaaassing
RRP on the LT model is £1,500, and that doesn’t include the pedals!
I paid half that as my mate owns a bike shop, and I have access to his Madison/Sportline account!
As for the mudguards, I don’t give a flying **** as long as my back/arse stays dry!
And if you are only spending £800 (RRP) on say an Orange, you won’t be getting much of a fork for that money…
