Another bloody year in

Mods please don’t move this to Bullys until tomorrow to see if we can get a page or so out of it…I’m bored.

Can’t believe it’s the end of another bloody year, where has it gone.
It has not been too bad this year , I’ve had worse, and the best thing was 2 new grandkids this year…yeh I know what those who know me are thinking, I do not look anywhere old enough :sunglasses:
I am also still in employment this year, 7 yrs with this firm, which was only ever going to be temporary when I came off European :unamused: but no plans to change, unless I get my arse kicked out that is.
I’m getting some employment coaching from Eagerbeaver, so what could go wrong.

I can’t remember if it was someone on here or a mate in the pub the other night, who said they should make Christmas and New year like the World Cup…every 4 years, because they just come around too bloody quick.

I haven’t been a fan of going out N.y eve for last 10 yrs or so, but tonight I have no choice. Me and my little girl (20  ) went shopping and for a pub meal today, a bit of quality time :sunglasses:
but I have come back feeling as rough as a bear’s arse sweating and shivering with the beginnings of Manflu.

So I’m sat here with the logburner roaring away, in industrial temperatures on the sofa (in my Superman Onesie my little girl bought me for Christmas  ) sweating like a foundryman’s scrote…a great end to the year eh? :unamused: … but at least Newcastle are on the telly on Monday.

So what are you lads (and lasses of course) doing tonight, I suppose the lads who do not answer this are out on the P1 55, so what about the rest of you, is it a house party and buffet , or is it just like me watching Jools Holland (again :unamused: ) with a can of Boddingtons…living life on the edge eh?
So enough of my ramblings, and apologies for them, but as I said…I’m bored.

Happy new year everybody…friends and not so friends.

Me and Mrs BB are in on our own just had a take away now watching a film, been a good year for me with the green supermarket brigade but doesn’t entirely satisfy my driving urges but hey ho, no grand kids produced this year. Personally we can take new year or leave it but have a good one RR.

Just been to ASDA Washington for an emergency prescription for my father in law. Store shut but pharmacy open till 10.00pm. Father in law is 91 next Sunday but not sure if he will see it !!!
Tyneside

Just got back from putting my 81yr old dad to bed and I’m now sprawled on the sofa at home suffering severe man flu, this must be my 1st NYE in 40yrs that I’ve not been in the pub, but tbh my hearts not in it as I suspect 2017 isn’t going to go well for me.

However guys, wherever you are stay safe and keep the shiny side up.

Been a fantastic year. Welcomed my daughter In to the world February also got engaged and then passed my class 1. So can’t complain one bit. Had a curry and a few this evening. Now off to bed for a 4am start. Which is fine as with no hold ups I’ll be home for dinner time.

Would also like to wish you all a happy new year! And to all take care.

Ryan

Can’t say what I am up to tonight,or if it ever she looked on here it would be curtains ,

Dan…you dirty old dog :grimacing:

It never felt like Christmas…and it doesn’t feel like New Year’s Eve if I’m honest,I don’t think working on Boxing day,and going in on Monday helps :unamused:
I think I’ve turned into a grumpy old man at last
My missus reckons I’ve been like that ever since we married…I wonder why
Just ordered a Chinky online (I hope she’s pretty !!)
I shall continue to pour beer down my neck until it arrives,so that I can sleep through the midnight fireworks :imp:

Can’t complain about 2016. My second daughter was born in April. Then in June, I landed myself a new job. Good money and decent hours etc. Been lucky this year. Not received any bad news or has anything bad happen.

Sat on my computer watching old wrestling videos, arguing with Americans over manual or automatic gearboxes. Really can’t be arsed with NYE, I don’t drink now, not touched the stuff since NYE last year and that was only one small cider. 2016 was alright, I passed my Class 1 which was nice but now the granparents are really getting on now, my mum’s years of doing everything (being a single parent) is starting to catch up. All the meds she’s been on has brought the onset of liver disease. Its manageable at the moment but its terminal unless she can get a transplant. She’s due for another knee replacement as well. I lost my dad in 2011, I don’t want to lose my mother.

Had a nice round trip to the supermarkets after tea time to pick up loads of top-notch quality grub about to “go out of date” for 90% off across the board… Meats, Dairy, Fancy, Everyday - Spent about £60 on two trollys full of around £500 worth of stuff. Get in!

I’ve even got tomorrow off now (was originally expecting to be working tomorrow night) so I’ll try not to give you all a bellyfull of my skinful again later on - promise.

The best thing about 2016 for moi? - Ending it with a higher sense of hope than I began it with.

If we could subtract the “deaths” out of the equation - I’d be hoping for “more of the same” for 2017.

Yappy new year in any case.

Glad you’re enjoying the job Nick have a good 2017.

Going out on New Years Eve lost it’s attraction for me many years ago, I did go out on it a couple of years ago and it just reminded me why I don’t bother.

On the up side I’ve manged to catch up with loads of friends and family over the holiday, nice to see everybody and have a few laughs.

I changed jobs in 2016, the other job had been good, but it had come to the end of it’s course, I wanted to push the transport side and the boss didn’t. so I left, 6 weeks of no work and finally thought I better at least do a bit of agency while looking for something suitable.

Went to the agency, the bloke I was talking to was a massive motorsport fan and called me later that day telling me to look at the website of a company that builds race cars as they were looking for somebody with my experience, nothing in it for him. :open_mouth: although I have told him I’ll get him to a race meeting and get him access to garages, but he hasn’t taken me up on the offer yet.

Anyway I applied, got the job got an extra few thousand on top to take on the transport management role as well, which is basically managing myself as I’m the only permanent truck driver,

Although the job hasn’t been a bed of roses, sub-standard kit that’s not been looked after for years and frustration trying to get it all back up to scratch, the paperwork was pretty much in the same mess and dealing with the management is like pulling teeth. But I’ve been told things should improve next year. We will see, I’ve been promised the World before and got nothing, but I can see the potential in the company, they are picking up new work with some prestigious customers, so that might build into something interesting.

And I have cold for Christmas, but it’s not a full blown jobby, just niggling in the background for the last few days. :frowning:

That could be SERIOUSLY misinterpreted by some on here    …but not me :sunglasses:

2016 has been good business wise, nothing major gone wrong and hopefully next year will be much the same.

Lost two dogs, gained one. No family, so the mutts are important.

Really it’s been very bland, which is perhaps no bad thing.

Really think we should have a pic of you in the superman onesie, Rob

As I’m management I’ve somehow specced myself a secondhand Iveco, just can’t argue with the spreadsheet. Just waiting for the go ahead now. (I think).
