Hi new to site, and a big fan of trucks and respectful of them on the road.
Being manager of a rather busy service station on a dual carriage way in essex i have a good bit of chats and bit of fun with lots of regular truck drivers who come in to refuel on daily basis.
yesterday i was really angered by a lorry driver who seemed totally oblivious to the size of his vehicle, the kind of road he was on ( A very busy arterial dual carriage way).
he decided he wanted a bottle of coke for his journey to where he was going. rather than pull into service station, he stopped on the dual carriage way. not a lay by or anything like that. He just stopped… causing a massive tail back in the lane he had stopped in. He did not seet to care that he had just caused a massive traffic jam behind him. Even other lorry drivers where honkin there horns in annoyance… if it where emergency i would understand. but he didnt use toilet… he didnt seem in a hurry to get his lorry moving again… Very annoying to see this amount of total disregard.
If the driver is on this site. That was a really poor piece of driving… if it is you profession surely you should have much more courtesy and awareness of what you are doing.
Coffeeholic:
I am totally shocked by this. I mean Coke? Pepsi is way better, what the hell was he thinking.
Im shocked too CH, who has enough money to buy drinks from a service station these days!? Had he been on the ball, he would have popped to the Tescos round the corner (other supermarkets are available).

We need to find out who he works for and get a job there, as said…" who has enough money to buy drinks from a service station these day’s. " Also enough money to pay the fines for stopping on a D C.
he was extremley thirsty
been a diabetic and needed a sugar boost
just had a scare moments earler and took a few minutes to reflect and an exscuse to drink was it.
jumping to conclusions is easy
reality can be something different
come on guys, the O/P was making a very serious point about truckers and how one idiot can give us a bad name. If there was room to pull into the service station,a nd from what the O/P said i think there must have been, then why didn’t he do it? instead he inconvienienced a large number of other road users, just to buy a coke?
Might have needed to grab his power lead for his laptop that was playing a DVD, so thought it would be safer to pull over to grab it then get up to get it. Probably at the best bit of the DVD aswell.
And while you were getting all hot under the collar looking out of the shop window he stole 3 Ginster pepper slices, a Mars bar and a packet of polo mints
lucky though, could of been reported for leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position but he would of got of if he had got lemon and lime bottle of water lol
