Some older feed trucks

Maybe One for Wheelnut - presume the first is a Timms truck ready for livey ?

I suspect that’s actually an unlettered Bowman SA400. If you look closely at the rear of the cab, the air-intake is incorrect for a 401 - which is what a 1985 B-prefix vehicle would’ve been. Judging by what is visible of the drivers door, it looks like the horizontal handle of the 400, rather than the vertical IH tab-release of the 401.

Does anyone remember Chas Draper Grain in Bulk from Leicester. Yellow with black writing red chassis, they used to run Leyland buffalo 8 leggers and T45 roadtrain artics .

Here you are gunner here’s one for ya !
drapers.jpg

Hi Gunnerheskey, finally got around to scanning a couple more pic’s. Can’t remember the full story behind the D reg that was rolled.Think it happened up about North Killingholme. Apparently a farmer in the field heard the sound of gears grinding(in the spicer box)as the truck went past at speed, and the next corner over it went.So i was told the day i took the picture.Shame about the truck as it went really well for a 290.All the rest were 320.
The Fiat in the pic was Turkish, unloading at a shed rented out in the yard .Used to see a few Turk’s etc there.

Derek Layton hauled for the for over 30 years.

J & P Turner also had a mill in Kington, with another depot at Brecon, they ran about the same number of lorries as Passey Nott, but whereas Passey Nott sold out to Midland Shire Farmers in the 1980’S ( later known as Countrywide )
J & P Turner are still going, with just this Seddon Atkinson four wheeler and a Transit van.

Yes I can Andrew he persuaded Passey Nott to buy a BMC Boxer,Laird and Redline.Ken Davies had the Boxer,my old man had the Laird and Jack Taylor had the Redline.I think your Dad was into the BMC’s as Clive had a Mastiff artic.
Passey Nott had run some BMC’s before, but mainly ran Bedfords with one D series Ford and an Albion Reiver.
Cheers Dave.

When i drove for LTC we used to load at avonmouth quite often for wynnstay farmers in llansandffraid near oswestry. We used to got to hj leas at aston and congleton.NWF aswell near crewe. There was a place in crewe aswell but i forget the name. Then there was a company with light green trucks that had mills at holmes chapel and walton-le-dale near preston.
