And they rave about tramping

I’m very mathematically challenged, what time does the £8.38 start, do they pay for breaks, do they pay meal allowance when on holiday, do trampers get £22.50 per day when on holiday and if you’ve been working all week how many times can you work weekends

£8.38 starts from 6am till 6pm, outside those hours it is night rate, break are not paid, meal allowance not paid when on holiday, night out money not paid when on holiday either.

This shows that they pay you in tax free bonus so you think your doing well but when you have your 6 weeks holiday they only pay basic saves them a fortune instead of paying a good wage to start with, same with meal allowance do you get that every day no matter how many hours you do

Christ Dave. You don’t marry the person you first had ■■■ with. I couldn’t anyway, my Headmaster was already married.

The main reason for posting pay rates was because I have been pm’d off a number of members regarding pay. Thought it made sense.

You are correct about it being very corporate, but I don’t need to kiss ■■■ to get a job mate. I left Canute because I was being dicked about, and I chose to go to Stobart’s. The depot is 5mins away, facilities are excellent, and the work is ■■■■ easy, and clean. Planners leave me to it, happy days. Overtime whenever I want it.

Ultimately, the firm is a haulage company that needs bums on seats. I am just a number.

But I get a nice stretch of branded river to breed in, and enough wood to chew on.

What more would a Beaver need?

Beaver man. Leave it upto dozy to sort his ■■■■ out. You have landed a doddle of a job. Some of these southerners believe that you should earn at least £20 quid an hour. Sod them. I look at the bottom right hand corner each week, that’s what matters. I rarely do 5 full days and earn more than a what I see a lot of these so called big money earners reckon they earn.

Ps you set a precedent by letting your head master bum you. Willie will have you next.

It gets tiring after a while trying to explain Stobart’s pay. There are some on here who are very mathematically challenged.

Its really not hard to understand. £8.38 per hour Mon-Fri day rate(up to 18.00 hrs,£9.33 after 18.00 hrs). 10 hour day will pay £83.80 + £15.00 meal allowance.(tax-free). The meal allowance is equivalent to £18.00 if it were to be taxed earnings.

So it is basically £100 per day gross Mon-Fri. A bit more if you do nights. If you want to work a Saturday, its about £12.00 or £13.00 per hour dependant on time of start. Sunday is a bit more.

Trampers get £22.50(tax-free)per night on top.

Not bad for easy, clean work. But for those who cant get their head around it, or refuse to believe it, yeah. It’s terrible lol.

So for a 40 hr week (Day work Mon-Fri) (not including breaks) you get £335.20 before tax plus £75 meal allowance.

Those are some shocking wages, still the tax credits must be a nice little top up.

How can you justify those wages for driving class 1?

You are guaranteed 45 paid hours per week mate.( If you actually end up working less, happy days ).

So its £377.10 + £75.00(tax free/equivalent to £90.00).

Gross wage £467.10 per week for 45 hrs.

So is the holiday pay an average of your last 13 weeks per week or just 45 hrs at basic?

So its £377.10 + £75.00(tax free/equivalent to £90.00).

Gross wage £467.10 per week for 45 hrs.

So after TAX its roughly £315 + £75 = £390 in your pocket.

EDIT:
I would rather ‘dirty’ work for more dollar. The clean work thing doesn’t make up for low wages. I suppose though the lorries are new/fairly new compared to me driving 10yr old stuff.

If I remember rightly the first 28 days of holiday are paid at an average of previous x amount of weeks wages. After that it’s back to the basic wage.

Also not all jobs at Stobarts pay the same way.

Also the company seems to have split up and it’s several different companies now. Young Mr beaver here appears to work on the general haulage side which is allegedly owned by (debay?). Dozy, although I’m not sure and I doubt whether he knows, I think works for ws which is William Stobarts and I work for stobart group which is owned by tinkler.

I think. [emoji6]

Looks a decent wage to me.
Although id struggle to get out of bed for 45 hours if theres scope for lots of OT and nights out based on a 70 hour week its a decent take home.

I like to be doing 70 hours a week myself and with a Saturday nudging the 80 mark which without working it out could see an estimated take home of £700 + easy for stobbies.

I only did 60 hours last week and felt like I was part time.

Its a trampers mentality that some wont get but I like driving me truck and chauffering containers about all week to a variety of destinations. Folks like me get the blame for keeping wages down but its all about the bottom line.
Hourly rate is vanity, take home pay is sanity, finding time to have a life and spend me money is reality.

He’s a poet & he didn’t know it [emoji14]

My mate has been there for 15 yrs and is taking a job with a pay cut as he is totally ■■■■■■ of with crap incompetent planning, having his motor with all his kit in (which he looks after better than some owner drivers) being used …while day motors are parked up. ( please dont come back with the old 'It aint HIS motor/it has to earn etc…he fully realises that :unamused: ) and coming back dirty inside, cupboards ratched and stuff damaged,. He’s leaving because he is being generally ■■■■■■ about.
He reckons if Bert & Ernie knew the true story, instead of swallowing their own bull ■■■■, it would be sorted.
He is a real good ‘old style’ driver no accidents or damage will do the hours and keeps his head down.
(Not referring to the Stobart lads on here btw) but he reckons they prefer the subservient yes men to the drivers with an actual brain a lot of which have already left.

I make no secret of being a Stobart ■■■■ taker, and if the job suits the lads on here fair play, but the co bring a ■■■■ storm down on themselves, for all the ott crap they try and put across to the public, most of which are daft enough to believe it. Stuff on here like my mates experiences tell the true version of events,…they are just the same as the rest, and in some cases worse.

He’s taking a pay cut, who pays less than Stobarts ■■?

I know money isn’t the be all and end all, but I couldn’t live on those wages never mind moving to a lower paid job, but each to their own.

It’s not a clean work ,I deliver to small / large sites and most as you can imagine are ■■■■ holes ,truck, boots, trousers ,straps get plastered in mud/ muddy water etc etc .
dont get taken in by it

Stobarts brainwash recruits pretty quick. How is it done?

A key to a brand new scania hung from Mark Dixons bootlace and swayed in front of your face or locked in a room playing reruns of trucks and trailers untill you comply

Doubt it Dave ,I did 0ver 70 hrs ,5 nights out ,6 days ( although last one was 2 hrs ) and that was £590 take home ,another 7 hrs x £8.30 ish p.h isn’t going to net you a extra £110 …I was totally underwhelmed by it ,im not seeing a massive jump from days to be honest ,other than when I did 30/40 ( 50 guaranteed p.w ) .
And when I take the £400 sat nav ,£35 per month phone contract ,cooler box, kettle ,cooker :open_mouth: :open_mouth: ( it’s no wonder the Mrs is hardly talking ,setee again last night ,zb leathers cold this time of year ) , I bet I’m worse off

Dozy my dear, I would make you sleep on the couch if you spent 400 quids worth of my house keeping money on a sat nav.

Seriously you really need to change jobs. Sorry forget that, you really need to change career. Get a cushy little shelf filling job, before you have a bigger than usual meltdown.

Blimey doze thats a bit low for 70 hours, maths isnt my strongpoint but from beavers figures it looks a little off, unless your on a different rate entirely, you wouldnt be on an emergency tax code by any chance would you.

Bit worrying that your missus aint talking to you, im no life coach but if your jobs gettin you down it will affect your home life, any cracks will be magnified and can quickly turn the relationship sour.

I feel you have also been forced into tramping so perhaps looking elsewhere might work, maybe try Culina or a different part of the industry entirely.
