The way it works where I work is that we get a guarantee 10 hours for a Saturday (obviously if you work longer than that you get paid for hours worked), nine times out of ten I’ll be running in for an hour or so and get paid ten. The only exception to that is if they request you to do another job and you refuse, in which case you’ll be paid for hours worked. Never seen that happen tbh as all the jobs are usually covered anyway.

Think thats what is called by most Drivers, lorry driving. Only £9.50 an hour, presumably you don
t get paid an O/T rate or a minimum of 4 hours for a Saturday.

I’m starting to appreciate that T&C’s are a very important part of the this game in this professional driving lark.
I wouldn’t be happy doing a night out and 2 hours on a Sat morning with only £40 to show for it, so I won’t be rushing to work for Dozy’s prestigious firm!

prestigious firm!

I haven’t really gone into the intricate details of dozy’s latest adventure (mainly as I get bored easy) so I may have got things completely wrong .but if I get the jist of it basically he’s complaining about some knob in an office taking the ■■■■ by maxing him out, generally ■■■■ ing him about , keeping him out on a Fri, …and to add insult to injury on an msa.and paying him on the wrong side of next to jack ■■■■ for the privelidge.
I know old doze is his own worst enemy who does himself no favours, and I am guilty myself of ■■■■ taking, but good on him for standing up to these tossers, some of you just take it and say ■■■■ all, so the unreasonable treatment is continued…and continuous
Those that say ‘well that’s driving’ etc, maybe so, but it doesn’t HAVE to be, most other industries have moved on from the 70s so if you want this one to, stop queing ip with your kecks round your ankles.
High horse back in stable for today.
And another thing any post that shows up the reality of the ‘Green Death’ as just another crap haulage firm, …(despite the inflated high opinion of themselves, and ridiculous b/s they try and put across to the gullible, to the point where their head is stuck right up their conceited arses) is ok by me, enough said.
Sounds a pretty standard event doze.
I dont mind these little Saturday run ins meself as if im early enough I can get home before the wife wakes up, do her a little breakfast in bed, then slip into bed and if im really lucky slip into the wife (ok its only happened once).
If ive rounded me hours up im usually still being paid for my performance, well it dont take long to be fair.
Dozy- Saturday day rate is £10.63. x2 is £21.26. + £22.50 night out (tax free). + £15 meal allowance (tax free ).
Total £58.76. Of which you will receive just over £50 net. Not too bad for not managing your hours in the best way.
I don’t mind anybody knocking a company, its personal choice. But you should be aware of the facts before you do so.

As I said e.b. couldn’t be arsed to read the ins and outs. Not intending to ■■■■ you off, it’s just that I hate Stobbies …but if it works for you then fair play.

Not bad for a sweet little Sat run in, money for old rope really, drive for 2 hours, book 3 minimum allowing for pre and end shift checks with a smidgen of tossing it off.
I would clear 10 quid less than these figures and still be OK with it, but horses for courses and im sure our doze would rather be home with his missus.
Dont like this not paying for 3 hour split thing, even though it could be argued it wasnt a proper 3 hour rest (ie not free to dispose of time etc), it could be the difference between getting home or doing something daft like going over hours.
My tacho allows me to move for 30 seconds and doesnt interupt the rest recorded. Not sure if this could be picked up on a more phorensic check but I do get a few dodgy 3 hours in. Just gives me more flexibility. God im an employers ■■■■■■■■■ at times.
The idea of working for any haulage company on them rates makes me not want to work Monday - Friday, never mind Saturday.

Even if it is £58 it’s zb terrible ,I used to get £140 just for turning up on a Saturday for Corby ,often just a cardinal ,morr Wakefield ,and that was 10 years ago without a night out .
And as for knocking them ,you and happy clapper can continue with everything is brilliant ■■■■■■■■ ,im not ,zb rubbish

,I zb hope not Dave ,I’d hope the planner more than got the message on fri I was not happy one bit ,and he’d better not pull the same stunt twice ,eggbeater and happy clapper might take it up the ■■■ but I don’t
No bother Rob, I don’t get offended easily mate. My depot is just round the corner from me, and I know a few people there, so it suits me.
If i’ve nowt planned for the weekend,i don’t mind running in on saturday morning.

Have you a wife ,kids ,family at home ,do they mind you preferring to spend 9/11 hours in a truck rather than at home with them .
I just can’t believe all these drivers who like stopping out for the night rather than go home ,I don’t know why they don’t save on c/ tax / w.rates etc ,flog the house and live in the truck 24/7 .
Go on days then

No doubt if there was an opprotunity to live in a truck 24/7 some would jump at it. We all have different requirements in life and different stages in life can alter those requirements.
There was a time when 2 nights out a week was a stretch when the bairns where little (which is strange as im not even scottish). Me not being at home put more stress on the wife.
Funnily enough now most of the kids have left home me being at home puts more stress on the wife. That doesnt mean I wouldnt rather be at home but have to do what I feel is best for the relationship. What I hate is not being there when im needed but the wife has become more selfsufficient, she even changed a light bulb the other day.
Being apart does help but also hinders, its a fine balance really. Luckily im a very considerate lover.
