A14 westbound jc 11 -12 and they took 13 pallets of dressing tables. Each pallet had six box of 15kg each [emoji46].

Not being funny mate but I aint got a lot of sympathy.
You park in a lay by, (that’s bad enough in it’s self) AND it’s on the edge of a busy trunk road with all the rocking and rolling about with passing trucks, even IF you could sleep in that hellish scenario, you are hardly going to feel any movement in your trailer in those conditions are you? 
Just learn from your mistakes and stop parking in bloody stupid (not to mention totally unsuitable unfit for purpose) places.

As you can see they went through that path that leads to a farm I think. Plod wasn’t bother about investigating it.
That will be it. Unless the plod catches they in the act which is very slim they will get away.
I don’t like throwing qualifications on line but I have a good level of muay thai and jiu jitsu. Training since 14 even though nowadays I just train for fun. I can hold my own in 1x1 fair situation pretty good, active, 34.
But protecting a load is not on that small category of situations where I would risk my life for. Especially if that will be a unfair situation.
I am chill about it. I am from Brazil and there most of truckers I know had been beaten, tied to a tree and left somewhere, I am telling you, most of them.
So I am fine. I am all about looking after the kit day to day, being reliable, do the job as best as I can but protecting the load from robbers, I will pass that one.

There’s no need for sympathy here mate. These things are happening everywhere. Yes there’s place you should avoid(if driving time allows) but most of the time is just a matter of luck.

Most things on this page are far better than a tyre iron, a stun stick combined with pepper spray will knock anyone down.
Two of us tried the stun stick on each other in the yard, it’ll literally knock you off your feet…

I lied…I was trying to lure Goldhivizboy who threatened me, (ha ■■■■ ha ) into a false sense of security. 
I know it’s old but this is about as much concern that plod show,until load theft becomes a problem on crime figures, nothing will be done.

You say it’s a ‘matter of luck’.
Is it?
You need to counteract that luck by taking sensible precautions, and being selective where you do (and don’t ) park.
My point is you’ve done the job 5 mins and been the victim of a successful robbery, I’ve tramped for 30+ yrs and only had 2 unsuccessful attempts.
You make your own luck on the whole mate.

Yep. Doesnt matter how big you are if they’ve got a knife, or a machete, or a gun. Your also half asleep and they’re all alert. Your best not knowing. Your a driver not a security guard. If you hear something and you open your curtain a bit to look they might see you know they are there and you could really be in the crap then. If they think you know nothing they will just crack on and get away as soon as they can. I’ve said this many times on different threads, If your company have you parking in lay by due to either poor planning or not wanting to pay then why bother? Go back to sleep and let them have what they want. That will teach them!
You always want to know exactly where you are though. Just in case they did start banging on the door and won’t give up. If you want a fast response when you call 999 it’s best to not be vauge, ie somewhere on the A14 not really sure.
I normally whack a ratchet strap across the door handles so they can’t be jigged open if parking in a layby. Overkill maybe but so long as I’m alright I don’t really care what goes on behind me.

Can see that too.
But the trailer I had at the time had repairs everywhere.
It happened to colleagues at services, off road lay bay etc.
Curtain side, no service parking, maximizing hours, long wait to get load, it all helps to a not well planned night out.
As I said, last thing I would do would be looking for sympathy, especially on line.
I have been robbed 6x back home and most of them I had a gun pointed at my back or head.
I am cool, woke up, saw it and made one phone call, put my coffee on and waited.
Did nothing wrong. Boss of course may be annoyed but cant say anything to me. Life goes on.
I am not a fan of nights out anyway. Too much hassle, not enough parking, not enough money etc…it is just a matter of time til I don’t have to do them. I just do what I have to do now.
