Inquisitive, I logged onto a USA truck forum. (truckersreport.com). Many topics and forums about religion (Christian). I have never noticed even the slightest reference to religion in this forum. I’m not complaining. Maybe thereby lies an expalanation for Ice Road Truckers. If our American comrades are ready to meet their Maker, they don’t need my reply to such job opportunities which is, “…er, no thank you.”
But they do blaspheme a lot.
They are a nation of nut cases the majority of truckstops especially as you head south have a chapel and sell loads of religious stuff
I was in one in Kentucky this week the woman behind the counter told me I was a troubled soul in need of saviour and she would pray for me until I found it.
They are all dead keen on the Sky Fairy, especially down South.
We have a similar religious institution here, its called Broadmoor
It’s said that if Jesus had been born in America, churches would have an electric chair on the front of them instead of a cross.
Parts of Canada are the same up in Manitoba where we are it’s a strong Mennonite community. I went to look at a place to rent the other week and they turned me down as I’m not a church goer.
Not very Christian at all
The church seems to be destroying itself through hypocricy and allowing itself to be infiltrated by people like Henry V111 who destroyed the sanctity of marriage by deciding to set up a church of his own because he couldn’t/didn’t want to live up to it’s values. Then there’s the supporters of same ■■■ marriages being allowed in church amongst other assorted perverts who’ve infiltrated the church to the point where both the Pope and a higher power seems to have given up on it.
That’s all religion one group interpret things one way another another way then they decide to slaughter one another.
Since I’ve been out here its realy opened my eyes to things like this.
Down south you end up in a neighbourhood where people are living in little more than sheds with boarded up windows that don’t look like they’ve seen a lick of paint since Nixon was in the White House then you see the church immaculately painted nice grounds etc why ain’t they helping the neighbourhood as down there pretty much everyone is in the flock.

They were trying to be nice…
Religion in the UK is more like a pastime or hobby these days. Ask a christian if they really believe the world is only 6000 years old and was created in 7 days and they will roll their eyes and patiently explain to you that the bible shouldn’t be taken literally.
300 or so years ago most people really did believe that the world was created in 7 days … (sorry 6 days because the all powerful god needed a rest on the 7th day). I don’t think it is a coincidence that religion was much more popular in the past when humanity couldn’t explain why rain fell from the sky or how the big ball of fire (nuclear fusion, actually) rose in the east and fell in the west. God made it happen. Simple.
Perhaps the decline in religious belief in the UK is down to increased understanding and knowledge of how the universe works leaving less roles for god to “make happen”. That doesn’t explain why americans still have a high proportion of avid believers though considering they are the most advanced nation on earth.
Tricky one.
Edit … Religion has made quite a few appearances (or manifestations) on this forum, but they inevitably get locked in case some one gets upset that their god is unable to defend itself.

When I first come here I thought the big one on the 52 was a shopping mall it’s that big car. Park at the weekend is like bluewater on Xmas eve.
Steinbach was dry until recently too.

I’ve always said I’m open minded on the subject and I can certainly remember telling my school teachers that the theory of evolution sounds like bs to me.Which only leaves one other possibility.Which doesn’t mean that I believe that every single word in the bible is literally true.
Brethern,
Do you really want religion in our free speaking website ? No, as we have enough preachers on truck issues !
Yours Fraternally

Cant be. I think carryfast posted a very subtle funny link. Had me going for a moment till I scanned down to the table of evolution theory vs scientific theory (a contradiction in itself) and saw the bit that said “■■■■■■ reproduction came about by evolution” … “Two humans had to evolve at the same time and place, having complementary reproductive systems. If one system wasn’t complete or compatible, the species would become extinct.”
Then I realised it was a spoof
