Amazon at it again!

haha, well least i know never to get any work into this place, its litterally 2 mins down the motorway from mine anyway.

at least if you work for royal mail and go there you wont get locked up, apparently amazon staff aint allowed in the back of the trailers… absolutly brilliant. tipped in no time aswell.

RDC’S one reason why i went onto tankers!..

I’m appalled at this as well.
I’ll never go there with the current job, but i’ll be complaining to Amazon anyway.

if they tried to lock me in a room the door wouldn’t be there for very long once my size 11 had made contact with it.
it would be classed as faluse imprisonment in my book and the police would be called straight away :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: sorry for spelling never was very good at it :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

this is the e-mail address of the ceo of amazon

Hey, yeah it ■■■■■! I delivered there last week. 3 bleeding hours >8(
Admittedly I was in well before my booking time but if I’d have known the circumstances in which I’d be kept id have held off going on site.

It’s literally just up and running so i’d imagine all operations (tipping times etc) will be getting streamlined etc over the coming weeks, hopefully they can sort out this joke of a practise (locking up drivers) too!

It is nothing like “false imprisonment”! The drivers are free to leave the room at any time. If they do amazon are free to ask them to leave the site and not pay there boss as the job hasnt been done.

sorry wrong!!! to lock someone in a room wether they want to be or not is false imprisonment in law, now had the door been left unlocked so that person could leave at their own free will without having to ask someone no case to answer :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Do they let you keep your mobile phone, if you can get a signal, ring the police and tell them you have been imprisoned, mention someone had a craft knife and because they are bound to have a couple of foreigners working there, tell them you fear for your life and wait for the Armed Response Unit.

CO19 is Scotland Yard’s specialist firearms unit. This elite cadre of highly-trained police officers are on standby to respond to any armed incident in London. Both men and women can join CO19. The unit trains all other UK armed police officers.

CO19 has around 550 members, including training staff, SFOs and ARV units.

Having a disability and being unable to stand for more than 5 minutes without my walking stick, I’m sure I could do a fair amount of damage to walls and doors with my stick.

If they don’t let me out…I’d trash the [zb] place.

There’s nothing there to trash by all accounts

Quinny:
A story for one of the red top newpapers per chance?

Bad publicity is something Amazon could do without.

Ken.

Anyone deliver there? Get some pics for us fellas. If you get hi-res ones with plenty of detail of the ‘appalling’ conditions then there is in fact a chance that one of the papers would run a story with it, especially if you exaggerate a bit as well!

Just tell them, look they tried this when I was in Rampton and they didn’t manage to keep me in, so do you feel lucky?

Well do you?

i wouldn’t let it happen to me.
simple.

i’ve just emailed amazon to tell them that her indoors won’t be ordering anything in the future due to there inhumane health and safety policy. without drivers they have no business.
but my email won’t bother them too much. but 1000 similar emails might stir things up.

I bet Yank truck drivers wouldn’t put up with that at the Amazon D.C.'s in their home nation.

You are free to leave. Just ask. Same thing with security barriers. Are these also illegal?

You cannot compare being locked in a room with a security barrier protecting against trespassers. Yes most likely you are free to leave once someone comes along to let in the next prisoner but what if someone has a heart attack or such like.

The fact you’re trying to put some sort of justification on this is bizarre.

I am doing a night trunk this week, I have brought a load back up for delivery to Amazon this afternoon, I will quiz my day man and get some up to date info, I will post the results tomorrow… and he isnt the best of drivers to get on with, so being locked up with a few other drivers might be fun… watch this space.,
