Am I really that incapable? DQC application question

I’ve just finished my 5th cpc, and despite googling around I can’t get a straight answer to the question “How do I get my DQC card”.

Is it simply due to my zombie like state from my 7am start (I’m a night worker and today’s course coincided exactly with the time I normally sleep), or is it some deliberate wind-up - a final sick joke - whereby they make it deliberately obscure?

In anticipation of being called a lazy (insert slur here) I unfortunately have to ask my brothers… how/where do I apply for this sodding card? All I know is it will cost me £25.

Thanks in advance.

edit: on a side note it was interesting to note that, today, at 35 years old I was clearly the youngest in there by several years.

It will be sent out automatically, mine arrived in about a week.
You don’t have to pay anything.

Are you sure?

I’ve been driving class 1 for 10 years and had the acquired rights, so it’s not part of my initial training. I’ve been doing the periodic sessions.

Yeah, 1968kg is right, they’ll send it to you and you pay nothing. I got mine sent out when I did my cpc for the buses and now I’m waiting for my lgv version.

As long as the guy who took your course registers you being there today and its your 5th session your card will be posted automatically.

Well you learn something every day. Thanks for the replies.

It will only be sent to you if you have a photo card licence, I had to replace my old paper licence to the photo card one first

There is no separate version for buses or trucks. If you hold both C and D licences, your DCPC covers both.
As for applying, I think once your course has been uploaded to confirm you have completed the required 35 hours and the upload fee has been paid then the card is automatically sent to the address on your driving licence.

And it gets to you quickly too believe it or not. :open_mouth:

Rat67 had PCV DWC and has recently passed mod 4 LGV so is waiting for a new DQC with both on it

If I remember correctly both will expire at the same time - the current PCV expiry date - no more gets added on because he has just got LGV - it used to until they changed it

Not sure Rog, the examiner who passed me for mod 4 said that I’d be covered for five years from last Monday, but my pcv cpc expires in Aug 2016. I’ll let you know as soon as I get my new card. Going to be a bit ticked off if I have to do it all in two years but what else can we expect from this money grabbing bunch of thieves :imp:

As long as you’ve attended the 5 days required it’s an automatic thing. The training centre that holds your details will pass your details to the DVLA and the card is automatically issued using your driving licence details. Mine came 3 working days after the last day of training.

Same here.
Had PCV DQC with 10/2016 expiry date.
Passed LGV Mod4 10 days ago should be back next week.
Will see expiry date will it be 2016 or 2019.

If the system allowed him to do LGV mod 4 then he must have passed car test after 1996

The DQC system USED to give 5 years added onto the current DQC but new EU rules now state that getting either PCV or LGV added now simply gets incorporated into the current DQC so has the same current expiry date

That is how it was explained to me by the DSA dcpc hotline crew and they have not been wrong recently

It should be 10/2016 for both according to the dcpc experts at DSA

I passed my car in 97 and did my CPC I 2012. Both my D and C came back as 2019

Im looking forward to September when I can refuse to take the truck out and hang up the keys as my firm that employs 34’000 people has still yet to send me on my final 4 sessions!

technically you have made yourself unemployable as a driver, as by the regulations it is the driver responsibility to obtain the cpc not the companies to send you, so you might have a problem when they say bye bye chap and you go and try and sign on, just saying and not having a dig, so don’t take it the wrong way

just seems a bit weird Rog! if he had done his tests the other way round i.e class C first and then D would he have still need to do his mod 4 again or is it only drivers with acquired rights that the only have to do one lot of training to obtain their cpc card for both D & C, or am I being thick
