Just a quick question really, as I’m trying to work out if I’m expecting too much from a service or my local Volvo dealer is just bloody lazy?
Had my FH500 series 4 in for a service over the weekend. It “allegedly” had a broken F/N/S spring, so couldn’t get it back till today. Picked it up at around 3pm.
The truck was bloody filthy as it’d been parked outside in a really dusty yard all weekend. Interior was dustier than when I dropped it off (dirty footprints and oily hand marks all over the place. The 5th wheel was as dry as a pharao’s flip flop, not a drop of fresh grease anywhere. Service book stamped but left out of it’s folder on the dash, the folder was left on top of my bunk. 2 storage cupboards left open.
It it me?

I’d be kicking the ■■■■■■■ RIMS off it!
don’t pay the invoice.
No , just very poor service ! I bet if you had a fleet of 20-30 trucks they’d bend over backwards to keep your custom

No that’s a poor showing on your dealers behalf. You don’t need to be shirty just ask the service manager if he thinks it’s good enough
always worked for me.
I live in the North of Sweden above the Arctic circle. Here is a lot of Heavy industry connected with mining.Volvo have, for many years,a monopoly here with Heavy trucks. In the last 2-3 years more and more co’s are changing to Scania and Mercs soley due to the arrogance, lethargyand general incompetence of the Volvo dealers.

When you say “my”,do you mean “my” as in you are an owner driver,or my as in,the company vehicle you usually drive?
If its the former.i would have gone straight back into service reception and fired a few frecs into them.
If its the latter, get the Md/Tm to fire a few frecs into them.
Previous posts seem to suggest he’s an employed driver, not an owner.
That’s nothing when I had major problems with our grab wagon the other week, our fitter (self employed bloke) took an angle grinder to the levers. Removed a major pin on the bucket whilst it was still in the air, and then engaged the pto despite me pointing out that the other levers were stuck in such a position that the bucket would spin over the body and into the cab. It did this, smashing the console, and bent the catwalk. Would’ve done more had I not hit the emergency stop button.
My truck goes to services with dust already in it.
Firm I go into regularly in UK bought their trucks from Holland, not only did I hear they were a lot cheaper that they could have paid in UK (I heard bought 10 trucks the saving was equivalent to buying 9 at UK prices & the 10th was free) and they use the Dutch dealers for services & the lads say proper customer service & workmanship out there vs Uk dealers
Years ago a friend ( owner driver )bought a new fl 6 wheel tipper . one problem after another , lots of downtime and lost earnings to the point where he nearly went bust . Nothing but waffle and excuses from volvo uk . Eventually he loaded it up and drove it into the middle of the lawn at volvo head office and left it . Response from volvo head office in sweden was instant and a new replacement lorry was provided forthwith .

There is a reason why they always have that techs wanted sign up.

Sorry, I use “my” in the context that I’m custodian of it. It’s owned by my employer, well, it’s owned by Volvo as its leased from them.
I’ve had words with my TM, also had words with the service advisor at Volvo. Noted for future.
I wonder what service you’d get if you took a £120,000 vehicle to Aston Martin for a service?!!
Took my car to haliwell Jones for a service wasn’t expecting it to come back washed Valeted with a nice new air freshener and a box of tissues !!! Great service.

This is always my argument when they treat ours like skips. Somebody paid the equivalent of a Range Rover for it
Cordwallis aren’t any better…

It’s not bad to be fair, they pick my car up, drop it back. Usually given a decent wash and valet. I also get some cream rubbed on the leather.
There’s a comprehensive report of the work carried out and they call me “Sir” a lot.
The wife gets similar treatment with her mini, well apart from the creamed leather, I’ll do that for her.

Cheaper for them to do that than to actually carry out the work required for the service

Regardless of what the vehicle cost - how much does someone actually pay for the service at either establishment?
