Left school to be a mechanic, did collage etc gain the rellivent bit of paper then realised money was crap.
Did some product testing for Durex
Then went into manufacturing building crop sprayers and airport deicers. Got took over by Americans then promtly the company got sunk without trace.
Went into recovery work cars Hgvs the lot loved it but hpurs shagged me, it was then I found another job that got me all the licences you can imagine and still there today.

browncow2:
worked as bouncer in mothercare, did 5yrs in the secret service, 7 yrs as aircraft pilot, was the first man into iraq during the first invation, got offerd the primeministers job before tony blair but turned it down. wen,t into land development made 2million. now just driving a truck for a hobby.
Love it!
Not me, factory for a year and then warehousing for 9 years, used to look at the drivers getting onto the bays and always had lorries in my life so no option for me I’m afraid. I was lucky enough to keep pestering the transport manager to putting me through my class 2 then class 1 at his cost and I signed up for 2 years to him but did 5.
Never going to be rich but I enjoy going to work again.
Saying that my last employer went from being the best driving job I ever had to the worst in 4 1/2 years!
Cane straightener in a fishing rod factory, capstan lathe operator, door to door encyclopaedia salesman (should say wannabe salesman ), one or two other factory jobs, labourer on building sites, coal delivery (back breaking
), lorry driver (tippers first then artics), amusement machine repairer, Sheet-metal worker, CNC punch-press programmer/operator, back to driving
Those are some of the jobs I’ve had
I quite fancy following Coffeeholics career path in reverse. Kitchen Porter, Chef, Publican. I always wanted to end up in a pub
I know there is no money in it, but it is hardly like leaving a good job to go into a risky business is it?
Straight from school I worked for Priddys Transport doing everything from cleaning trucks and selling fruit and veg to being a drivers mate then got sacked (boss did it via my dad and still dont know the reason), went to college doing car mechanics but got kicked out after one term and whilst at college did part time parcel sorting for Amtrak then City Link and went full time with them, left City Link to go to White & Co on removals but got sacked after a customer made some crap up about me so went to Pickfords, from there I went to First Great Western despatching trains then moved to South West Trains doing the same then promoted to station announcer then got sacked from that
From there I applied to Stagecoach to do bus driving which I got, but between that I worked p/t in an off licence and on an agency doing drivers mate work (where I got offered a job by a boss of a removal company in a Citroen Berlingo van ), left Stagecoach to go work for Norbert Dentressangle but left that due to nights killing me and it being too far to travel so went to Switch Logistics which I left after a month due to not being happy there, went to a coach operator but lasted a month there also due to him being an absolute cowboy (banned from operating
) so left him to work for another coach firm where Ive been for 4 monthes and 8 days and Im 100% happy where I am now, so wont be looking for a truck driving job just yet
So pretty much all my jobs have been around some form of transportation
In chronological order, apprentice painter and decorator , security guard, F.L.T driver , exhibition stand installer, fitters mate, lorry driver, heavy plant operator, lorry driver (again). Who would go to work in the early hours without knowing what time you are going to finish? dumb ■■■ white guys that’s who! and the money at the moment ain’t the best, having said that You get paid to drive around the countryside in a big comfy seat in the warm. Spare a thought for all the silly sods digging up roads putting up scaffolds in all winds and weather and other such jobs for the same or less money. I’m fairly happy.
Apprentice Electrician, then the dole got off my ■■■ into being factory fodder then driving the bendies like my old man did all his working life
supermarket night supervisor
boat attendant
commis chef
gamekeeper
shepherd
sawmill worker
hgv driver!
Paper boy at 13

Yes, I worked in I.T before being made redundant, thought about what do I really want to do with my life, looked at the fact that I love travelling and driving, then looked into getting my Class 2, that was 3 and half years ago after being put through my class one by the company I work for in June. Still love most of it. Hate sitting in drivers waiting rooms for 5 hours like yesterday.
Saturday job in tescos
Estate agent
Summer job in ibiza then corfu bar work and enticing drunken lager louts and laddettes in to bars
hgv driver
Alongside all this ive bought and sold anything where theres a chance of earning a pound note as my mum says i could sell snow to an eskimo.
Started in Engineering, went to college etc. Dropped it after a year to go to London at the age of 17.
Started as a kitchen porter earning more momey in London and having more fun than you could have in Manchester
Got made up to Commis chef and went to college again, this time completed C&G 706/1/2/3 Classically trained chef, became Head Chef and Managers in many places, became General Services Manager in prestigious locations.
Got fed up with all the bull, so went to a Private School and implemeted a catering operation that was better than all the contractors could provide, became a media spokesperson on diet/nutrition whilst in this role Been on TV and radio…And the broadsheets and tabloids.
Then went to a food manufacturer (Senior Operations Manager)to develop, increase business, whilst at the same time operating my own business…I left the manufacturer when the owner sold it…Well, I lasted a year with the new owners…Long story and very funny
I then spent a year developing my own business and doing my HGV 2 and 1…Got a job immediately.
I also qualified to be a counsellor/psychotherapist 10 years ago inbetween doing everything else.
Went to University too…Dropped out after 6 months, too boring and was only for exploiting people really.
I am now 45 years of age and will be retiring in the next 6 months…I will continue with my business, but it needs very little time to operate(internet based)
Driving trucks has been interesting, but too many muppets on the roads, and I don`t earn enough to risk my life on a daily basis.
I would love to operate my own haulage company, but the margins are suicidal financially…
Driving trucks is a hobby for me and it sates my working class work ethic, but as the UK becomes more crowded and full of selfish people, the more I want to get out of it…That is exactly what I hope to do for most of the year.
