Brillo pads with the pink soap in them, i used to use 2 for each wheel as when the soap got low they started scratching the wheel. Then Autosol and elbow grease. Do all this with cold wheels, if your wheels are hot they dont come up so well, give us a before and after pic when youve done…
like this in fact!!
The brillo pads get the brake dust out, when the soap starts dissapearing from the pads, chuck 'em and get some more, then obviously the Autosol does the polishing bit. I allways found Autosol better than Peek, but more expensive for such a small tube, so did Peek first, then Autosol for the finishing shine. I dont have to do it anymore, no alloy !!!
Dafman:
One day you will all grow up get married and have kids, and wont give a toss wot you drive, i go to work for the money not the truck, driven absolute rubbish for £35000 and still not cleaned the wheels, luckily i have never been a proper trucker and driven a scaarrrrniaaaa ( real drivers understand where i am coming from )
strange connection between being married with kids and then not giving a toss.before marriage is it ok to look after the truck?then when kids arrive must you stop?help us dafman so we know whats the right thing to do to become a proper trucker,a lot of the real drivers are quiet at the moment.
dont worry, there is help out there.when the real drivers log in take the advice they give you.along with brickies who clean their trowels even though they just get dirty again, mechanics who clean spanners and toolboxes just to get dirty again you can be turned away from this foolish habit you have.this pride in appearance must stop, time now to grow up and be a real driver. may the force be with you…
If you was an O/D I could see spending my own money on all this cleaning gear as it would be an indication of your attitude to the job (for customer appearances) But as Dafman said why would you pay out to make the bosses wagon all shiney thats for them to fork out for cleaning materials not the driver, and I would expect to be paid to do it aswell preferably at time and half
funkyfella:
will try that kindle cos me allcoa alloys are filled with brake and coal dust bloody immingham docks .
whats best buffer to use with drill then as mentioned earlier on ?
globby480 is yer buffer an drill man mate!! he has got a post here somewhere about cleaning knackered alloy’s with pics. My method is the elbow grease way. The wonder wheels stuff isnt too bad either for the brake dust followed by brillo pads.
