Hi all, does anyone no the best thing to clean up alloy wheels.
I’am changing my unit to a Scania topline,it has alloy weels that have not been polished for a long time.

Thanks

no offence intended to you but
why do you want shiny alloys, is your boss paying for the stuff and paying you to clean them.
i can understand want a clean cab inside an out but polishing the wheel seems a tad over the top :open_mouth:

Same here unless you get paid to do it and your boss buys your stuff then why do it, Inside mine is spotless outside i have alloy wheels and tanks but i only use the jet wash or lymn truckwash.

mr v and globey 480 have the answer but if thats to much work for ya get em painted like the dutch and danes do painted wheels with some stainless nut caps on look equally as good or if thats not an option and you really want shiney wheels bin the alloys get some steels put on and cover them with wheeltrims.cdc sell trims that are held on with the wheelnuts and when on they look like a set of alloys

wash with warm fairy liquid a few times if you have discs on the front they will have burn spots from the pads use fine wet and dry then WHITE DIAMOND wipe on let it turn white and rub off and do it every week it works :stuck_out_tongue:

I WILL BE CHECKING YR WHEELS CONVOY DAY GRINGO!!

Aersol can of Carb Cleaner from your local poundshop and an old toothbrush. It’s better than degreaser and anything, if that doesn’t work you’ll have to go for the wirewool.

One day you will all grow up get married and have kids, and wont give a toss wot you drive, i go to work for the money not the truck, driven absolute rubbish for £35000 and still not cleaned the wheels, luckily i have never been a proper trucker and driven a scaarrrrniaaaa     ( real drivers understand where i am coming from )

True, forgot this was a truck wheel, an old toilet brush…ok maybe a new one  )

whats wrong with a bit of WD40 or some cola (the good stuff),as been known to clean most metals up nicely?

I,ve used the the acid which has been brushed on and as given a good result, not perfect but the wheels were knackered in the first place anyway,
just brushed it on before washing truck, few minutes power wash off,

the acid I used is one they use for getting rid of concrete/cement off bricks ect, got mine of a building site, just asked and they gave me some. don,t breath it in though as it stinks

fill a spray bottle with kerosene, douse the wheels in it, and i mean douse

leave it for half an hour to an hour, come back and wipe off what wipes off, then scrub for a bit, repeat process and that should do ya

after that just give them a polish every 2 or 3 weeks and theyll stay nice

We use PINK ACID for the trailer wheels and the do come up good, but i want a shine also. I will give this a try and post some before and after Pics.

Thanks for the info

so to be a real driver then you dont look after the truck you drive and you dont take pride in it. :unamused:

alcoa wheel polish use it with a worn scourer and wet ,
if you use wire wool or brillo keep it wet it does not scratch as much,
then peak, autosol and elbow grease

Never said that, spotless inside wash it outside but unless i am getting paid for it and the boss pays for the stuff to clean why would you do it

I have a lot of chequer plate scattered about and use brick acid to clean it, works a treat but aint tried it on the alloys

I’ve used a product called ‘Wonder Wheels’ made by Car Plan for a number of years on my car alloys. Works amazingly well.

Comes in 500ml, 1ltr. and 5 ltr. sizes. (Do a Google search for the best prices - sometimes an online shop will be cheaper than your High St. motor accessory place or Halfords.)

You paint it on, wait for a bit, then hose it off and finish by wiping over with a sponge or soft brush. (Making sure you don’t get any on your skin or clothes -
'elf & safety and all that…) :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
