Another update,

Well after passing my class two thursday before last i decided on last tuesday to go on a job hunt, went round a few companies with my CV
, registered with a few agencies got a mixed response from need two years experience to yes we will see if we can get you some work.

Anyway got a call last night from a company i dropped my CV off to who said " there merging with another company and getting three new 18ton trucks at the end of the month and need three new drivers am i interested?"

Was on there doorstep this morning at 9am and great news, start work full time on monday morning.

It gets even better, i told them i will be taking my class 1 in a few weeks and they said no problem with time off to do it, and as lomg as i pass they will put me up to class 1.

It gets even better as well, the company is 2.4 miles away from my front door, and even though its multi drop, its all local on class 2 and longer distance on class 1.

And to top it off, they load the wagon, print the route and unload when you return as well.

From what i can see i,ve landed squarly on me feet and feelin on top of the world.

Will keep you updated with how it goes but thanks everyone for there help, encourafment and advice.

Madguy. :imp:

That is what called ā€˜Hitting the Jackpot’!!! Well done … it just goes to show what using a bit of initiative and making a few calls can do. Work just won’t come to you, you need to go look for it which you did.

Well after passing my class 1 last Friday I mentioned to the boss again today that I really would like to get onto the Artics soon if possible and he said he would have a think.

Got a phone call just after i got home from the boss who said come in a bit earlier tomorrow as he is sending me out on one of the artic runs, one of the guys can’t make it so he decided not to get an agency guy in and let me do it instead.

Don’t know where im going yet but looking forward to it especially as it will probably be in the Volvo !

Madguy :smiling_imp:

Great.

Take your time and enjoy

Nice one madguy and many congrats on the test pass.

Let us all know how you get on with the artic :open_mouth:

Tazbug

Well I turned up at work this morning expecting to take the Volvo as its the oldest and the smallest of the units and was told I would be taking the Merc instead.

So off i went empty to Brum to collect a full load with a nice reverse onto the loading dock with no problems.

Off from there and off to Bingham near Nottingham to unload again with an even better reverse onto the bay without a hitch.

Left there and a nice drive back to the yard again with a nice reverse into the yard with no problems and no hitches.

All in all a really good day and really pleased with my first drive in the artic.

Dont know how to post pictures on here so i’ve added some links below of the truck i was in.

Madguy :imp:

Well done on a good drive without incident.

Plenty of reversing practise too

Hopefully more runs will come up for you

Hi MADGUY,

I’ve fixed that for you.

What you needed was [img.] and [/img.] (without the extra dots) at each end of each link.

If you go to ā€˜edit’ on your post, you’ll see what I mean, then simply press the ā€˜back’ arrow to navigate away.

Here’s the recommended way to post pictures:

I hope this helps.

Thanks for that, hopefully this will work ā– ā–

Yep, that’s near enough mate!!

You can put your pic(s) exactly where you want to in your post by using the ā€˜place inline’ feature once you’ve ā€˜added the file.’

:bulb: After that and whilst still in ā€˜edit’ mode, you can re-order your pics (highlight and drag) to show in any order you wish and then use ā€˜preview’ to check that they show correctly as you wish before pressing ā€˜submit.’

I see you were pulling one of clippers old trailers, ironically same style of trailer we regularly get in ironically I prefer them to the trailers they use now!

Nice to see things are working out smoothly  Heres to many more miles under your belt…now if only I could get my tests passed  :grimacing: Well done on the passes too!

Cheers

Jonny :sunglasses:

I know am a bit late but well done bud so you gonna go forward to class 1 now ?

There is work out there if your prepared to go out and find it, some think that if they pass the test work will find them, unfortunatly it don’t work like that.

My advice, get out therem walk round the trading estates etc and speak to people, tell them you’ll do anything your reliable and availible short notice if they need cover one day, something will come in.

Madguy :smiling_imp:

madguy wont be long til your up here with the rest of the class 1 drivers pounding the roads and making a difference.

Well thought it was time for another update.

Been driving most of this week on the artic and apart from a moan yesterday for taking to long which i thought was a bit off i was told today not to come in on monday early !! thought thats it i’ve messed it up.

Then the boss said be here for 18:30 as your going onto nights !!

Well they did say when i passed my class 1 they would put me on them and the’ve stuck to there word, so from monday eve you may see me at the Coalville hub, you will recognise me, i’ll be the one taking ages to back onto the bay for unload and from what i’ve heard there is a real crappy reverse onto the loading side so apoligies in advance but come over and say hi and watch the back end for me.
