Aldi Swindon what a pile of crap

So how many times have you accidentally pressed the HORN when lowering the pallets?..

At least twice per load - and I used to be a warehouseman using the ■■■■ things all day every day

I do that too, but let’s face it, it isn’t going to kill somebody if you sound the horn instead of pressing the “up” button. An Aldi pallet trolley is about as complicated to use as a Hornby train set.

If the pallet truck was fitted with a V8,had velvet curtains and a couple of bull fighting spears on the front,i dare say a lot more would have a go.

My thoughts…

When I go to Aldi or Lidl I use the electric trucks to tip myself without a second thought. But only because it’s an established working practice like it or not.

However I’ve tipped at Morissons at Burton Latimer before where I’ve been asked to assist in breaking the pallets down, I’ve always refused to do that. The reason being that I was in the chemical game for a long time and used to load out of various ICI sites where the loaders used to sit in their cabins and let the drivers load themselves, everyone was happy with this until a 20 year old in a suit came along and said “hang on, why pay £30+k to an operator when the drivers can self load for nothing?”

So it came to pass that these operators were laid off and it became the norm for driver self loading/tipping and guess what? Yeah the drivers were suddenly the bad guys!

Maybe warehouse staff should realise this next time they smirk as they watch drivers do "their " job.

aldis and lidls workers are bunch of lazy so and so,s ive been in to the depots in livingston and it disgusting it doesnt hurt anyone to be treated with some respect , im not work shy and i pull more than tonne pallets on a pallet trucks , but if these peolpe work in a warehouse it should be up to them to do there job and by the look on there faces dont bring your outside life in to your working life rant over lol

I work 60 hour weeks, often without breaks on my feet all day. On my few days off I often spend taking either of my parents to hospital appointments. I never get a minutes peace or rest.
I work at Aldi and I’m far from lazy. Some truck drivers are lazy ■■■■■, does that mean they all are, no! So don’t generalise!
Aldi workers don’t just work in a warehouse they work everywhere. We have to do everything…

Back at Aldi again they are even crapper this week. I queues up at desk with 5 other drivers who’d just arrived to be told come and back up at 1600. Now I’m fair if you arrived before me you get a bay before me. But not with newer drivers arriving its a lottery.
No if they had professional unloaders with targets etc the trucks would get done quicker.
They are one of the worst companies I have come accross.
Ps to all the proper drivers I like 8 hour shifts no nights out and a brand new auto truck

I think you will find the unloaders are professional (well most are) and they do have targets!

wildfire:
what i don’t understand with you lot is you manage to drive a 44 tonne truck all over the country, but you can’t manage to work out how to use an electric pallet truck :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: “oh sorry i can’t do that i’ve not been trained” is all i seem to hear!!! or have people just got that lazy now!

or do they think that tipping a trailer is beneath them or something?

if you came to our company with that sort of attitude i would have you out on your ■■■ before you had chance to get the seat warm, it makes me mad with all this negative attitude :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :imp: :imp: :imp:

here here

I tipped at the one in Chelmsford a few times can’t remember if its also or lidl and didn’t mind tipping as its a bit of excersize and I got pretty quick at it.
It’s mad one minute you come on here and see rants on health and saftey gone mad and now we are moaning about not been trained and the health and saftey implications of using a pallet truck.
I’d rather do that than sit in a waiting room for two hours.

alan16ac you said you work 60 hour weeks, often without breaks on my feet all day,
aldi should be ashamed of themselves if your not getting a proper break and im not generalising every depot or warehouse worker or driver i was commenting
on the aldi and lidl livingston depots maybe if you got a break at work and the other workers did too maybe most of them
would chill out a bit , i know its tough if your family is going through troubles and illnesses im in a similar boat good luck with ur job m8 :grimacing:

Yeah I understand Aldi need to get their act together with breaks. I was just saying we’re not all lazy lol.
Until I get an HGV job ill put up with it. No one else will pay me as much as Aldi do that’s why people put up with it.

yeah m8 defo get your hgv license as soon as cant beat the open road :sunglasses:

What is interesting us some places site health and saftey as why we can’t do certain things that it would be a 1 in a million chance of coming unstuck with but lidl and aldi can let you to tip pallets with just a quick briefing on how the pallet truck works.
Makes you think it’s company’s using its a blanket excuse.

Just tipped ALDI Swindon myself this afternoon. Got there at twelve forty five for a one o’clock booking.
I was one of the last drivers in the queue to book in and I had all thirty three pallets tipped and checked off by a quarter to two.

The ALDI staff were polite and my fellow drivers (of various ages) seemed able to cope with their pallet trucks without any danger or complaint.

In fact, it was almost as though everybody there had read the OP on TNUK and was out to prove it wrong.

Or maybe, it was because most people just want to do a normal job of work without any drama or hassle and would rather not go looking for things to whinge about just so they can start a thread on TNUK?
