what i don’t understand with you lot is you manage to drive a 44 tonne truck all over the country, but you can’t manage to work out how to use an electric pallet truck :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: “oh sorry i can’t do that i’ve not been trained” is all i seem to hear!!! or have people just got that lazy now! or do they think that tipping a trailer is beneath them or something? if you came to our company with that sort of attitude i would have you out on your ■■■ before you had chance to get the seat warm, it makes me mad with all this negative attitude :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :imp: :imp: :imp:

and as you’re a do-gooder, when you break your leg in THEIR warehouse, do you think aldi/ LIDL are going to drive you home■■? Do you think YOU’RE insured in their premises whether you damage your load, or the next mans■■? No you’re not! I actually refused at atherstone aldi, as my uniform states stobart not aldi and I ain’t no warehouseman! Three hours later, they tipped me and I found out they pay your firm an extra fiver for you to tip it! Ask for their liability insurance, then try and find a senior manager to take that one up with!!! Also make sure you tip on crossed hammers/ other work guys and gals as vostapo and traffic have a nice purge! :grimacing: :grimacing: and just remember the next time you go to Deutschland, ask to self tip/ load yourself as it’s quicker!!! They’ll have a sense of humour! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: Nowt to do with being lazy, you drive a 44 tonne, walking floor FFS! :unamused: :bulb:  :exclamation: :open_mouth: :stuck_out_tongue:  :sunglasses:

yes i do drive a walking floor!! but we do pallet work with the things as well, as for insurance you would be covered by both your company and aldi as you are on their premisses so they are liable and it is part of your work!!!

mind you after wasting 45 mins of my life the other day watching trucks and trailers i will go with my earlier statement its beneath you :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

and when i ran out to germany i self tipped at the seimens factory in berlin never had a problem with the guys there, and i use to help load as well at another place when i was bring chalets back for centre parc’s :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

always tip on other work so thats not an issue, :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

i think you have just been brain washed with bull :smiling_imp:

When I broke my leg at aldi Swindon, did they drive me home in 1994? Did they Donald duck us like! Have I had an apology since? No have I f…! Did I lose my first house and marriage because I took it to court? Err yes I did, so as I say cammioneurs… You tip at you’re own expense, I’ll never ever do it again! I drive the truck A 2 B NOT C, D or E! you believe what they tell you at your own peril, it cost me over £250,000 at the time, but I won in the end and it took ten years of hard work! Carry on drive, brainwashed I don’t think so! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

jammymutt:
Yeh but it keeps the prices down just get it tipped !!

Wait a minute im looking for my box of good boy badges !

I had the pleasure of tipping 24,960 litres of fizzy blackcurrant juice at Lidl today, all was fine till a warehouseman came back of his break and told me the pallets (fourways not euros) were the wrong way round :unamused: , we arranged to sort it and all was fine, till his supervisor came along with his clipboard and attitude and told me to turn em round, to which I told him warehouse work is below my paygrade :stuck_out_tongue: . I did sort them with the help of a couple of their staff as we’d arranged, but if that super had seen me first… :imp: . All worked out for the best though cos if I’d have left half hour earlier I’d have missed a backload nearby  .

Most of the fat knackers I see sitting around in Tesco RDCs should be grateful to Aldi for giving them the chance of some free exercise and the opportunity to burn some lard off of their wobbly arses.

FFS Harry, get off that bloody fence man and tell us what’s really on your mind!

I think those drivers who refuse to tip themselves are great.

I hope you all continue to make a stand and get your loads turned away or cause a delay because everytime you do, you make my job and my firm just that little bit more secure.

Keep up the good work…!

So Aldi cost you your first marriage? jeez, you must have a strong relationship!

Aldi will be fully covered for any injury on their site, but it won’t stop the waiting room ■■■■■■■■■■■ like above spouting nonsense.

As others have said, carry on throwing your toys out of the pram and acting like prima-donna drivers, leaves plenty of work for us companies who are willing to work.

I did the British thing, I will never go there again so I will leave it to those who give a [zb].

Ahh right, ‘Not My Problem’ eh?

Abso[ZB]lutely brother.

I delievered 12 pallets today at Prestons NSW and michinbury, both Aldi’s like back home in UK they self tip, I found it easy sorry but the electric pallet trucks are exactly hard to use, simple twist forward to go forward and back to go back lift and lower press horn etc … I have a Fork Lift licence over here and I was not trained on it nor shown how to use it however it was simple to us and felt comfortable in 5 mins of being on it didnt even have to walk had a platform on it for me to stand on!!!

as others have said report it or shut up moaning and get on with the job your paid to do …

The point your missing is …your not licenced to use the forktruck …try asking Aldi for a job tipping trucks, first thing they will ask is do you have x amount of experience ? is it reach…counter balance…blah …blah ! have you got a ticket to drive one ? no sorry, why are you applying for it then ? ooh i thought anyone could do it…ffs get a life man ! you wouldnt be applying to drive a class one on a car licence would you ■■? :unamused:

Couldn’t have put it better myself.

@shytalk,

are you really advocating that a visiting driver at an ALDI RDC should have a specific licence to drive an electric pallet truck?

Maybe it could be part of the DCPC?

Maybe so, :unamused:

So how many times have you accidentally pressed the HORN when lowering the pallets?..

RIDDOR - Reporting of Injuries, Deseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995

hse.gov.uk/riddor/

What you describe is a Dangerous Occurrence, right?

Hmmm! Well hold on a second! After checking your link cieranc it would appear that it’s not the right place to be complaining if there’s an apparent H&SE issue.

RIDDOR only requires employers, the self-employed and people in control of work premises (the Responsible Person) to make a report.

The RIDDOR site goes on to say:

If you consider that your employer (or someone else’s) work activity is putting your safety at risk or damaging your health, then you should raise your concerns with that employer or person. If no improvement is made and your safety or health continues to be at risk, then you can report your complaint to the relevant enforcing authority and ask them to look into it.

So in the first instance, the H&SE authority require you to complain to, in this case, Aldi. Then, if no improvement is made, and bear in mind, you’ve probably been banned from access to Aldi since your complaint, then you can complain to the H&SE authority and, as they so charmingly put it; “…ask them to look into it.”

I suspect Aldi will put their hands up with a shocked expression on their faces and show the H&SE inspectors the signed forms saying drivers have been trained, and then say, “like we told you,… we’re not to blame.”

Personally, I’d probably tip my trailer if I went to Aldi or Lidl. I’d be careful and take responsibility for my own safety. But if you’re going to hand out advice from your ivory tower of self-righteousness cieranc, at least FFS make sure it’s the right advice!

Maybe so, :unamused:

Well what I suggest you do is flatly refuse to deliver to ALDI.

Encourage your colleagues to do the same, until your employer finds and funds a JAPUT instructor who is suitably qualified to train you all in the complexities of working a pallet truck.

Please don’t forget if your boss arranges your training on a Saturday morning you will have to make a note of the ‘Other Work’ and you have a fair claim for overtime.

Meanwhile, don’t blame me if the rest of the transport industry passes you by and your firm has to shut down due to ‘rising costs’.

BTW, if you need to get out of your truck, it’s normally the door on your right (just in case you need a course in that too…)

W

The only thing I could add is to cover your arse, make sure with your gaffer that your allowed to tip yourself, if it’s not been arranged and your running under RHA conditions of carriage, if it goes ■■■■ up you’ll be the one to blame.

Other tan taht I’ve no probs tipping/loading myself, 3 traier loads all taillifted on today with hnad pumptruck (my license is still valid), not exactly hrad work.

Aldi is a budget supermarket. Don’t have the staff around to do it! And I doubt the staff are unhelpful, they probably just have a million and one things to do. You’re expected to do far too much in a short amount of time but until someone else pays me £10 an hour ill stay there. When our drivers come in at my Aldi I offer them a drink. And often ask them a few things and help them out as much as I can. But we are always rushed off our feat. So please don’t tar all Aldi staff with the same brush.

However I do agree with the electric pallet truck training it’s not sufficient those things are so powerful and you could easily do a lot of harm.
