Not been made away of RIDDOR just for dangers. As for staff they just ignore you and as for this forum 25% excellent info, 25% drivel and 50% moaning.
As for safety I gave the chap next to me plenty of room.

I’ve got no problems with a self tip. However when your put in charge of a powerful bit of kit with minimal training and no experience or supervision thats a real H&S problem.
I was using the electric pallet truck for the first time and thought I was getting along ok but thought walking in front of it was ok. I very nearly crushed myself against some pallets that had already been dropped, then realised it was better to follow the pallet truck, lesson learned.
However had I been crushed who woud have been to blame? I know I was in control of the truck but I had not been properly trained, I had no idea of how powerful they are, or how fast they move when I signed to say I’d been shown how they work.
Someone will be hurt or killed in time by Aldis money saving scheme but what do we care?
So what did you do about it?
Same question as above.
You’re aware there is a problem, as you’ve experienced the problem first hand.
So what happens when someone gets killed in the same circumstances you found yourself in?
You’d be partly responsible for not acting when you became aware of the problem.
You did report the problem, right?

RIDDOR - Reporting of Injuries, Deseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995
What you describe is a Dangerous Occurrence, right?
schrodingers cat:
but I had not been properly trained
Lidl will give you a quick 10 minute lesson on how to drive them and you have to sign to say you have been taught properly and until they get to know you they do sometimes check that you have been assessed by the trainer.
But i do believe Aldi do not do this.

aldi and lidls have been self tip since they opened in the uk and to the best of my knowledge no one has been killed, you can get killed or injured every day of your life, if you are that worried then you better go home wrap yourself in cotton wool and consider a career change,
now i am about to walk across the carpark at asda to get my tea do i need to be trained to do that, and to push a trolley around the store just incase i get run over by a mad granny doing her shopping!!!
oh and by the way as soon as you let go of the handle on those pallet trucks the whole thing locks up
I reported it to my driver trainer/ h+s / drivers rep. Nothing with be done. Reported an accident a few years ago after warning of a dangerous place nothing happened. I’m alright jack and all that.
Next time crash the truck destroy a few pallets and then report it.

There’s a big red safety button on the end of the handle if this gets touched then machine instantly stops so it should be impossible to get yourself trapped if you are going backwards.

I did the British thing, I will never go there again so I will leave it to those who give a ■■■■.

Trust me, if someone does get hurt or killed, and it’s a problem you’ve already reported, your consience will rest easy.
If that person gets killed, you knew there was a problem and you DIDN’T report it, it’ll chew you up for years.

Ahh right, ‘Not My Problem’ eh?
Nah your responsible for yourself in this life I would not lose any sleep. I lost a job 12 years ago in a warehouse for ‘standing up for the boys’. I was gone within the week. No one backed me up. Last time I speak up for anyone but my nearest and dearest. Done with this thread now I’m not one to drone on like some on here.

what i don’t understand with you lot is you manage to drive a 44 tonne truck all over the country, but you can’t manage to work out how to use an electric pallet truck![]()

“oh sorry i can’t do that i’ve not been trained” is all i seem to hear!!! or have people just got that lazy now! or do they think that tipping a trailer is beneath them or something? if you came to our company with that sort of attitude i would have you out on your ■■■ before you had chance to get the seat warm, it makes me mad with all this negative attitude

and as you’re a do-gooder, when you break your leg in THEIR warehouse, do you think aldi/ LIDL are going to drive you home■■? Do you think YOU’RE insured in their premises whether you damage your load, or the next mans■■? No you’re not! I actually refused at atherstone aldi, as my uniform states stobart not aldi and I ain’t no warehouseman! Three hours later, they tipped me and I found out they pay your firm an extra fiver for you to tip it! Ask for their liability insurance, then try and find a senior manager to take that one up with!!! Also make sure you tip on crossed hammers/ other work guys and gals as vostapo and traffic have a nice purge!
and just remember the next time you go to Deutschland, ask to self tip/ load yourself as it’s quicker!!! They’ll have a sense of humour!
Nowt to do with being lazy, you drive a 44 tonne, walking floor FFS!

correct pal, they’ll all talk a good fight in the brewroom, but as it comes to the crunch EVEN IF THEY’RE IN THE UNION they’ll never back you up! Drivers sticking together = NEVER!

Two questions, 1, have you asked? 2, did you believe them? They couldn’t show me/ or guarantee MY safety on THEIR premises, so if that’s a MASSIVE company!!!
keep on tipping FORKS!
Self Tip Pro’s:
Doing something different for a change.
Learning new skills/equipment.
Little bit of excersise.
Meet some new people, choose to chat with drivers.
Often quicker.
Warehouse Tip Pro’s:
No need to learn anything new.
Get to sit in a cold room, nothing to do./Get to sit in cab, nothing to do.
Listen to ejjits talking rubbish.
Time to sleep.
Get fatter,less excersise.
Slower.
I know what i’d rather do.
Yeh but it keeps the prices down just get it tipped !!
I actually love the sound of a self tip, especially if they let me loose on a forklift or pallet truck! I can’t believe people hate it! Admittedly I self tip all of my loads, sometimes people help, but I’m always involved and I don’t know any different, I dream of a day when I just sit in the cab and someone loads my trailer! Lol
