Yeah Bear is still sleeping his way around the laybyes of the world in Big Momma. Lee G did a spell for them too, as did this chap …mikesjollyincanada.blogspot.com/ reading his blog, he may be related to Robbbbbieee

met a Bulgarian driver who was on for them and we was looking for a new job as he said the wages were awful so that should say it all really!

What have I missed ■■

nothing yet

be patient while we gather an audience first please

I wonder if Rikki will allow us to sell tickets ? :bulb:

I take it , it’s to do with the Bulgarian driver and lack of wages rather than my op ?

all will become clear with the passing of time

As it has been mentioned earlier, i did do a bit of work for alan,

the company, well, what is there to tell? the lads that work there are a brilliant bunch of lads, all friendly enough, but a word of warning, dont go and work there if you cant handle having the ■■■■ taken out of you 24/7. (by this i mean humorous ■■■■ taking). its a family run business and to be honest its not that bad a job, some of the pick ups are ■■■■ and some times are very tight. some of the equipment is getting a little tired but mick in the garage does the best he can.

the hours, i’ll let The Bear tell you about the hours… i hope you like early mornings and late nights (sometimes not on the same day… )

Remeber to be polite to the nice man in the hi viz ford galaxy and you will be ok, its not a case of if you get stopped, more a case of when you get stopped working for them! just keep your cards straight and your passport to hand and you’ll be fine!

the pay is/was a bit crap when i was there but he pays a low basic and a percentage of what the truck earns, if you ■■■■ the office off, you wont get much work therefore wont get much dosh, if you spend most of the week parked up you wont earn much, but some weeks you can earn quite a bit

■■■■ it and see, you can always turn it down after a few weeks but i found my time enjoyable there, i learnt a lot, probably more than a rookie should know and some things that i hope i wont need to use again  unless its to get me home on a friday! it was a brilliant laugh and he will send you over the water at some stage (or vosa will) …

can some pass me the pop corn for when Austin gets back!

Guess who has been pointed this way■■?

Mr Scania, could you explain the underlined please?? You are making presumptions on a Bulgars sayso?? I might add, one of the laziest ■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■■ it has ever been my displeasure to meet!! I thought I could skive but Daddy Bulgaria teaches me lessons.

As Lee explained, we earn a precentage (is that still even legal). Daddy Bulgar is a poser who has polished his motor to within an inch of its life. Painted his chromed wheelnut guards ■■■■■■■ gold, would you believe!!! The reason Daddy’s wages are ■■■■ is cos he does ■■■■ all!! We have three Bulgars and seven Poles working for us and there are only three out of the lot who are worth a toss. We have Uncle Bulgaria who is an OK bloke and gets on with the job and as far as I know is happy with his wages. Then we have the laziest bloke I have ever met ie Daddy and to cap it all we have Daddy’s blinking son (hence Baby Bulgaria) who is a chip of the old block. He came very unstuck the other Saturday when I was helping out in the office LOLOL He phoned up to say he was empty and when I gave him his next mission, he told me he didn’t have enough driving hours left. I looked again at the sheets, then told Baby what he had done and how long he had taken. I told him him I was a driver and not an office waller and knew the job he had been on very well and knew exactly how long it took. After some stuttering from him, he got told in my best Sarf Lundun accent to ‘get his finger out and get to the next collection asap as I reckoned he still had at least three hours driving left’ … very politely of course LOLOL
Another reason Alan is paying the Poles etc crap money is he has realised they are not worth a toss and more trouble than they are worth. He hopes they will leave off their own accord, methinks.

Now back to the original poster … S2Rich. Mr Rich, are you shy? Do you go running to the fitter when a bulb blows? Do you ask the fitter to put oil in your motor? Do you expect to be given an hour to wash your motor every day? Do you cry if you are called very rude names when you muck up ie wrong tempature, shot a pallet etc? Do you expect to be parked up every day by 3pm? Do you expect every Saturday and Sunday off?
if the answer to any of these is YES then stay away!!! Go to Tescos, Sainsburys … anywhere but here
I have worked for Alan on and off (more on than off) for ten years now. Why have I come back twice?? Why do drivers come back after leaving? Because although the planning is a joke and the office a shambles, if you enjoy a good craic and a laugh and hate H&S, then this is a good place to work. A few years back, if we came in the yard early mornings, his Mum would cook us breakfast and more than one driver has had a shower in his Mums house. There are no formalities at the firm, Alan wears jeans to work and will go out and do a delivery as quick as the next bloke.
I might also add that there are 30 drivers grateful to Mr Knight over the last two to three years. We all know how bad the situation is at the moment in this industry and there have been weeks when I have fully expected to get back on a Friday and be told we have closed. Despite all the problems, Alan has managed to keep the firm going when many other small firms have closed and we are all grateful for that.

I will also add that I have NEVER once complained to Alan about my wages but then I am a hard little worker (when not sleeping in a layby on the A34)

Now, if you will excuse me, I must get to Killingholme… I have a ferry to catch and must be in Dusseldorf by tomorrow lunchtime and only just leaving Stoke!
