Agency drivers - who works tomorrow?

nowt since the 3rd
but my licence is back
and its Argos cat launch and have been promised
a Friday and Sunday
just hope i can be motivated to max the hours

2 days last week, 3 days the week before. Nothing so far this week

I joined one the week I finished before Christmas. If I hadn’t broken my toe, I would have been working constantly.
However I am back in since last Tuesday on a temp-permanent contract. I will be on the books March. Happy days. Back in the house every night at 1830. No weekends / bank holidays/nights out.
So my lil’ world is happy at present! :sunglasses:

Been non-stop “temporary-indefinite” at the same place since last summer, chuffed to NAAFI breaks.

There would have been nearly 5 weeks of embarrassingly ■■■■-easy 18t multi-drop available to somebody in the next couple of months, but I was “advised” by the TM last week to get the agency to just pay my holidays up.

Nuts are in a vice. I can either crack on til Easter without a normal working day off in 9 months, or I tell the agency “I am taking leave” and pretty much give away full time work to somebody else.

Decisions, decisions. Sod it, I’ve gone off the idea of that cruise anyhow.

Not had a day off this month, been brilliant. pretty much got the work aswell since the driver im covering for has been off 3 months and counting…

got 7 days off at the end of the month though then back to this

■■■■ all last week and its looking like the same this week apart from an odd day on wed driving a bin truck

I do mobile disco’s as well and have one on each of the next 3 saturdays so 2 days work through the week will do me, only trouble is the only day that you are gauranteed work driving is guess when ? Yes, the Saturday

Should there be an agency drivers forum on TNUK ?

No.

I agree, there are far too many agency drivers out there who don’t understand how to play the game, and so just end up whinging.

No matter how much you tell them, they still expect to start at an agency and get work straight away, be able to pick and choose and take days off as they like.
Got to work your way up the chain first lads, and then still understand every January you’ll get dumped like a STI ridden trollop on a Saturday morning when you wake up next to her and realise what you’ve done.

For anyone with some cash saved up it’s probably a good time to do your HIAB if you want a summer of solid work. It’ll be builders merchant stuff like but you’ll be stacked up from March till September.
Can’t stand it myself but it’s a guarantee of work all summer, and plenty of HIAB places will train you for £200 at this time of year.

So no one has any work, how many of you have got the new contract or are we sat at home while someone else who the agency has to pay is working.

I think it has a lot to do with what area of the country you live in because all my Mates that are agency are kept in work even in jan. but you do have to work yourself up the chain i think to get that work, take my contract jan -march 10 drivers a day are needed march -dec 14 a day are needed.ok not a major differance but if your at the bottom of the chain you could be one of the four thats not needed jan-march.Also there are a hell of a lot of ■■■■■ agency’s out there that need to be shut down ,you just have to find one thats good.

the firm where i worked all last year have taken on 10 new drivers none off the agency because of what they have to pay them.

Just been called. I’m in at 2pm for a possible 12 hour shift. This agency thing is just a short term thing for me (I hope!).

After working 219 shifts last year and booking an average of just under 50 hours per week. I’ve had 4 days work this year. Now catching up with accumulated holidays. Will look in again on the 26th.

You must make your money when it’s there as you sure can’t when it isn’t.
