After God came bus drivers

Just reading some of these posts. So if u can only park your truck in a bus stop to make your delivery and you think this is ok. Why can`t you tell your boss its impossible to make that delivery.

Agree with double parking and blocking people in, and when a traffic warden has appeared they’ve agreed with me. Blue badge holders can be right awkward, especially those who have it because child has “issues” which means they must park outside the toy shop or he goes into meltdown, licking any shiny reflective surface in town.

When I was ‘on the buses’ I often came across drivers making deliveries parked in a bus stop. I’d simply pull up alongside and pick up/drop off, no big deal, specially when the loading zones are full of ■■■■ cars. Taxi’s often used bus stops to pick up/set down; no problem as long as they were in and out quickly. As far as I was concerned, private cars were fair game and sometimes I accidentally caused a bit of damage with tail swing, about which I was always most apologetic.

Roymondo:
I’ve often wondered whether there is some special part of the bus drivers’ training course where they are told how to ensure that, regardless of the size/location/orientation of the bus stop, and the (absence of) nearby parked vehicles, the offside rear corner of the bus always protrudes into the running traffic lanes by a couple of feet…

These days, the buses and the bus stops have changed.

Now, with ‘low floor / kneeling’ buses, the wheels are that far back and steering lock that crap, it takes a 1/2 mile long bus layby to get the bus straight.

And, because the nose swing and tail swings are so massive, and the dumb arse council always put the stop slap bang in the middle of the layby (why not put it at the end?) and people wait in or at the stop, and if you drove past to get bus straight, they’d have to walk 6 sometimes 7 steps, it’s just not worth the grief, so you just dart nose in at the bus stop, load up and bugger off

What a storm in a teacup!
As for the “Trained fighter”, what a ■■■■■■■ plonker, one of these days he wont get the chance to say it once, never mind three ■■■■■■■ times!

switchlogic:
Personally I think the bus driver was right. That chap in the white shirt is such a tool. ‘I’m a highly trained person’ ‘I’m a trained fighter’, yeah, right, you muppet

+1

The Bus driver was quite restrained I thought, Daniel Dooley/Manchester the absolute tool in the white shirt needs, and now that video has gone viral, will probably get, a bloody good kicking, I used to have to deal with prats like that when I was a Railway porter in the late 70s, if I was him I would stay out off pubs in Manchester for a while because somebody will try to see how good a “trained fighter” he is, and he might find his phone and idiotic sunglasses inserted where the sun don’t shine.

The trained fighter seems to think that being a bus driver makes somebody a public servant! :unamused:

G6Bob:
He is out of a job!!!

This videos is the kind of reason I left the buses and strangely one of the things I miss about the buses [emoji14]

No driver kept his job as he did nothing wrong

As a grandfather of a little boy who has autism I’ve gotten used to comments like this. Ill advised and crass they come from people such as his father who walked out because he couldn’t hack it, leaving my daughter to cope (as women do) with a child whose need for reassurance and attention is draining - but it’s not the little lad’s fault, it’s just the cards he’s been dealt with.

Her eldest doesn’t understand why his younger brother is “different”, but he’ll walk over broken glass to defend him - as will I.

One of my neighbours used to work with First. Said its the worst place he’s worked. He now drives those wee red Coakley Busses round Lanarkshire and he loves it.

Yeah driving about not giving a toss… It wasn’t him in the paper was it? :stuck_out_tongue: Few years back, I’m sure it was Coakleys, the driver went off route to pick up a cooker and deliver it to his mates house with the bus half full with punters lol

First really is the worst place I’ve ever worked too… :imp:

Muckaway’s comment may have been a bit crass but I assume he is referring to the parents of children who do not suffer from autism or anything else, but like to pretend that they do in order to somehow justify their own actions like parking wherever they want, jumping queues and so on.

If there’s one thing my grandson has taught me it’s that no one asks to be born disabled. Every parent wants their child to be born perfect, but you learn to adapt and take the situation for what it is. As you say it’s usually the parents of “disabled” that make waves that the disabled should be treated differently. I’ve found that the opposite is true with disabled people and they just want the tools to be able to make their lives easier.

No idea what his name was, but I think he was subbing for comet or curries lol

As said why she couldn’t drive forward, if she was so bothered about the kids why was she stood there arguing instead of tending to them.
A driver can leave a stop 1 minute early even if your 6 seconds earlier than that you can get disciplined as someone at our place did the other day.
I got disciplined 2 yrs ago for being in the top ten out of 300 for running early.
Well made up never been in top ten for anything.
