AEC

3300John:
Hiya muckaway…very intresting…i think the chap who possibly owns M&M skips or waste transfer
station is some relation to the partridge family. the origanal owners of my truck.
when new the AEC was made into a wrecker and never worked as a tipper it seems she
had a two tone blue cab…theres a chap who puts photo’s on the flickr site named ekawrecker
has some photos of my AEC when it was newer i just need to contact him, he lives nr heathrow
i beleive.
cheers John

David Partridge is their Transport manager, and Roy Partridge (his Dad) lives at Cassington Mill, next to Mudie Bond. I wonder if Partridges sold out to Hoveringhams around the time your lorry was ordered? Mudie Bond is built on a shallow gravel pit I think they dug that area before moving to Vicarage Pit.

hi Lb76
JR Adams are still operating. They have a depot in Swallwell Gateshead Tyne and Wear. Dont know how many motors they have.
mick

Thanks for that mate. not my area but always interested to know who is still about
cheers bill

I also owned that Mandator , Collected it from Daniels hoose and took her back home the same day , had to stop at Peterborough show ground and unload her as there was no ramp at mine so i drove her from Peterborough home after having stood for quite a few years - went like a good 'un. Later sold to Kev Dennis

Hi John it`s looking well, what engine is in it 11.3 and a 6 speed box ,does she drive well?

Hiya …11.3 with a 6 speed box…the new diffs make her do 46ish in 5th so its better than the 42mph
flat out she did before.

Is 6th an overdrive? should give you a decent top speed, with the double drive it maybe an old heavy duty unit so the need for the low diffs , my dad had a 1959 8 wheeler mkv and drag with a 9.6 and 5 speed it did 38 mph flat out full load of wool on it was very sad and with the canopy over the cab heavy steering too

Was that for Ashworths in Bradford ramone?

Hi ramone…when i got the diffs the other week John who sold them to me said on the motorway
dump trucks they wanted the lower diffs… they was carrying 25plus tons of soil
and over 30 if it was heavy clay on unmade roads… when wimpey ordered a batch of mm6’s they
all had high diffs but had the 760 engine…they was back ordered and then AEC/leyland
released them in the early 70’s…the diffs i have come from a 1970’s mm6 which had been maked
Leyland…it still had chrome hub caps and the front wheel bearing covers was stamped Leyland.
if you look at the Halfcab mm6 that has leyland covers that have been on since new.

no its not a replacment hub its a replacment cab…i would think we’ll manage almost
200bhp and only 8 tons…its much better 45ish on tickover in overdrive…6th
