What a sad sight. I’ve always had a soft spot for AEC’s, I got a new Marshall in 1962, great motor. I even enjoyed to 2 stick MM’s (ratchet brake handle in the passenger side for the trailer mate). Happy days.

I think we may be onto the same chap i think he lives in the swindon to cirencester area as i met up with him nr the honda factory
and he took us to 4 or 5 farms where he had scammells some of them Ex blue circle as my mate dave was with us who then had the
restored blue circle routeman. someone on here must know him. theres a chap called ekawreka or simular on flikka who seems to
have stacks of much shifter lorry photo,s and i thought that might be him he,s also called John.
cheers 3300John.

The lorry in my pic above is one of the motorway tippers and there is a half cab in the yard too - it is in ekawrecker’s set too.

Hiya… bit of an update she looks the same but theres some pipework wheel studs and oil seals been
looked at number plates and some bling on the grill… weve a new steering wheel and a new speedo now
all the brake drums have been off and the adjusters are free.

John

She’s looking good John.Remind me,who built those “suicide door” cabs,A.E.Evans had one but I don’t think it was an ex petrol company MK5.I know Tunnel Cement had some.

Is that one of the ex-Royal Navy Polaris missile haulers?

MandatorV8:
Is that one

John: The half-cab is from an ex-RAF Blue Steel missile transporter. There is one in the RAF Museum and another in a private collection. The cab in your pic and the other two are the only survivors that I know of.

PS: Is the tipper still in existence?

YES i took that photo on saturday dinner…someone has nicked the radator core but i would think she,ll go with
a jump start. she,s in the same yard as the waggons further up the page. if you go to google images type in AEC Mammoth
major 6 you,ll see many aec,s on motorway construction including the half cab taken 18 years ago theres also a photo of the missile lorry in a musium.i have wrote i would like the halfcab but i don,t think the owner will sell her.
Cheers John

Definitely not for sale!!!

At Llandudno

Hiya …how’s this for a engine lads…it was at Kelsall show on the weekend.this would have been a
world beater in a mk5 mandator…17+ litres of pure grunt
