MandatorV8:
Revman’s pics do look like they show a V8 chassis. However, isn’t the cab sheel (well, the roof a least) of an RAF refueller? Note the roof-mounted marker lights. Two white in the middle and a red in each front corner.
Anyone know where it is/was?
hi the aec was new to wilf harrison rotherham & it still resides in rotherham-alan
Hello again Bill, it was Les Calver from Yarmouth, I’d forgotten he had a V8. He ran a few motors on Norfolk Line and the signwriting said “LM Calver and Daughters”, quite unusual to see this on a lorry in the '60s although I have noticed it now and again in recent years on various vehicles. Come to think of it, I know an owner/driver from North Norfolk who has “Harry Wright jnr.& Son & Daughter” on the front of his cattle float.Regards, Haddy.

when i drove for turner bros in the early 70s , they had a b series 6 wheeler with a walkthrough cab , the engine was underslung , i wonder what engine would have been . if andrew turner is on tnuk he might know . i wish i had taken more notice at the time . dave
Hiya …i was talking to Andrew Turner this morning and i asked about the ERF. he told me it was a M series
and was built specially as a 6 wheeler it had a ■■■■■■■ engine and was shown at a Harrogate show when new…
Andrew told me the truck is somewhere nr the A38 at Derby standing in a yard. he told me it was a rare motor
and would have liked it but as we know one is enough…

ERF:
Another V8 - well the front half of one.
The rear end was cut off and used as a farm dolly by a Lincolnshire farmer in the early 80’s.
Hiya …was’nt this V8 on E bay about 2 years ago…it said the same the back was chopped to
make a dolly
John
I think that must be another one John, but I didn’t see it myself.
This one was sold about 7 years ago and is being restored / used as spares - by another contributor to this thread, and as far as I know he still has it.

Hiya gggrrrrrr you know how time flies it may be the same AEC its time flying past me to fast

It’s not a Henschel, although the styling does bear some similarity. It is a Yugoslavian FAP- a B15, according to the filename of the photo. If you look at the photos of old Henschels on the web, they are actually quite different. What intrigues me is- what were the people doing? Is it the beginnings of some possible joint venture, out of which AEC gets the use of a decent-sized cab to put on top of their V8?! Joking aside, if you zoom in on the badge on the coat of the man on the right, it looks a bit like the FAP logo combined with the AEC triangle.
Can anyone date the photo, based on the appearance of the bus chassis?
I have seen this photo before but cant think where at the moment. it is definatly a Leyland chassis by the look of the semi-auto gear shift tower and the steering wheel.
