As you can see the Leyland hubs are much bigger and actually come out further than the wheels.
Interesting comment John about the AEC hubs being the same as a Scammell’s,you could be onto something there, next time I see a Crusader I’ll get a pic of the back end.
Yeah, you can see the external air filter housing and ducting, the straight engines had the oil filled air filters on top of the engine, the 471/505 had one filter the 691/760 had two filters. Franky.
Hiya …if you go to the graveyard site there’s a rough looking AEC unit. i think that may be a V8. i think it had
a home made sleeper cab and it looks like theres been a extension to the airfilter going up the side of the cab
i don’t know how to move the photo onto the V8 site so you’ll have to go and look.
John
Hmm - very interesting. I reckon there is a 75% chance that this one IS indeed a V8.
You just can’t quite see enough detail, but it seems to have the RH fuel tank and LH air inlet.
More details like the reg number would be good.
Could be an Ex Guinness tractor looking at that grille ornament!.

Revman’s pics do look like they show a V8 chassis. However, isn’t the cab sheel (well, the roof a least) of an RAF refueller? Note the roof-mounted marker lights. Two white in the middle and a red in each front corner.
