.hiya,
There was’nt much to touch these old girls at the time, i loved driving them made going to work a pleasure "am i really saying that"we had lots of them throughout the BRS and other big operators liked them too, Munro’s of Aberdeen had loads of them as did Brains from down South, i also drove for the “open door” next to this beauty but that was in the late 60s never saw any in their yard though.
thanks harry long retired
PS this old girl has an Aberdeen reg and no doubt was on the Munro fleet.
Some of Lloyds of Ludlow at Hereford truckshow.
Hiya… i,ve just started a repaint she looks better already
John
Is that what they call the RTS cab John?.
London Brick had a lot with those ‘Suicide’ doors and full air suspension - in the 60’s!..

Hiya… yes she RTS cabbed she was new to a firm in Witney…W Partridge from Cassington, shes really a one owner from new
another chap in Hook has owned her but i dont think ever run her around from what i can gather.(someone will know better)
she is a 6 legger and a very short wheel base ,like the ones doing muck shifting on the motorway construction in the 60/70s.
I had her running and put some brake pipework on last weekend and we took her to a small rally on a tow bar.
I,ve just looked at the rusty AEC. 8 or so photos back it has a perspex sun visor and a good steering wheel i need both
of these can any of you out there help me with these parts.
Cheers John
Here’s a couple of AEC’s,the Waugh’s vehicle was driven by (I think) the late Bob Greenlees, the other is a Mercury which I drove for a while in the early seventies. Seeing that load of Liner Concrete machines reminds me that the “Gaffer” Alec ws also a poly bag merchant, his favourite trick when you were loaded with dumper trucks was to break down a couple of pallets of bags and put them in the dumper skips, this of course meant that you had to handball them out at the customers premises (much to their delight) but also you also had to sheet and rope the load again.[/attachment]
For 3300John…
Think the steering wheels shot it mate…
Hi Chris. Here’s one of SRF301G out on the road,do you recognise the driver at all.Taken in 1975 on tower bridge.transportphotos.com/road/photo/VS01384

hiya,
The ratchet handbrake looks like it may still work.
thanks harry long retired.
I always thought the AEC’s were top motors, I still do, The very first new motor I got was an AEC Marshall 5177WY. 7.7 engine and it was a cracker. I spent a lot of happy hours in that thing

Here one I saw at the truck rally in Huddersfield today.1along with a Mercury.0

Wonder what the history of the Mercury is, she has a Gloucestershire reg. so a long way from home.
