Adequate lighting!

With the nights drawing in ,and getting darker in the morning aswell how many drivers have been issued with torches ,headlamps etc etc .

The workplace isn,t always well lit. Especially if your working a night shift! :unamused: :unamused:

Yes ,some lorrys have lights to help! But are they adequate! Any decent company should carry out a risk assessment !Got all grease on my phone and while i was standing in a puddle was cursing the previous driver company etc etc etc! :unamused: :unamused:

I found this on the net! Check it out!

If you’re that bothered, a headlight doesn’t cost a lot does it. I agree it can be a pain, but I don’t think you should expect the boss to buy everything you need at work.

I wonder why some people even bother going to work anymore! Because all they seem to be able to do is find things to moan about.
They are like a bunch of bloody school kids!!! “Sir I cant do this, I can’t do that”.
You wait till you have to go down an old farm track in the middle of the night in the pouring rain then you would know what dark was :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

For god sake get a life or woukd you like someone to come and polish your boots and carry your flask for you   :imp: :imp:

I carry a head light in my bag & got a magnetic LED light in the door pocket of my cab (touch wood, hasn’t been nicked yet !! )
Nice if the company provides this equipment, but you’ve got to look after no 1 in this world & some times take the initiative. (It’s not as if you didn’t know that it was going to get dark ! LOL)

You can pick up an led head lamp for cheap enough online and its very bright. I agree sometimes we may have to get our own. It’s not perfect but not end of world either.

Is a torch not part of a drivers tool kit…

Currently got 2 small LED torches, a magnetic LED work light and my running head torch.

   maybe you should wear one of those jackets where you arms go around you back too if you’re so concerned with injuring yourself.

:open_mouth:

A risk assessment for the night? You couldn’t make it up. The vast majority of drivers have a torch in their possession at all times. Their phone. Just download a free app to use the flash. As good a torch as you’ll need

Oh yes I forgot my torch app, and torch on my old Nokia mobile!

.
We have been issued with a Halfords LED Dynamo Wind Up Torch.[/b]

Guys, it is currently raining in Birmingham and I need to walk 100 yards to the customer. I have a problem, my company have not issued me with an umbrella. What should I do?

The umbrella is the least of your worries. Don’t make one stepp till an full risk assessment has been carried out, a suitable umbrella has been procured, full safety checks done upon the umbrella and finally you need to be comprehensively trained on use of the umbrella. Only then can your h&s officer sign off your 100 yard journey.

 don’t forget the umbrella must have reflectors and a working beacon on top as Ive been fined 30 quid off vosa for this offence.
